Sometimes early on in tourny play I will fold very good starting hands, and continue with that pattern for the first 20-30 hands. Then loosen up and start playing hands and when I catch a flop if not called make sure to show the hand to enforce the tight image. Then is the time that the blind structure has made it worth the risk of stealing. This has worked and backfired both, but helps to create a doubt in the other players mind as to whether you are stealing blinds or truly have a wagering hand. This image will carry over later in the tourny when you have moved from tables and encounter players that were at the early tables with you, It's the catch 22 principle you are trying to impose upon the other players at the present table, It's one of the strategies I've encountered myself and have fell victum too, the game of poker should always evolve and grow with you and your experience;)

At the Micro Stakes it doesn't matter, nobody pays attention to anything but there own cards so you have no image to create or take advantage of.

I found that by going with this approach, I was in need of doubling up too early when the antes started kicking in. I tried the small ball approach, LAG style, and found myself with a bigger stack. This was due to people not believing me when I had the really big hands, and them paying off very nicely. And hitting very disguised monsters and stacking people at times.

This might work sometimes but can not see it working more than a few times as the opponents will wise up to your game. Ive been playing online poker only a couple of months but have already faced many of the same players again and have a fair read on their game. I see the use of this tactic on a short stack play to maybe double up quick.

table image on line is bs, you get moved so often and people are playing 3 tourneys at once, nobodies paying attention, playing straight up and winning with good hands will give you a better table image and you'll chip stack will prove it....playing tight killed broomcorn's uncle...(doyle brunson) playing tight to get further in a tourney then playing loose forces you to make moves cause your below the average chip stack now and the blinds and ante's are eating you away....like broomcorn's uncle..playing straight up is the way to go, then when you sneak a bluff in there it will be more believable...
