Has this ever happen to you? your 8th in chips with about 50 people still in pays top 30. you get dealt AA blinds are 400/ 800 all you do is call two other people go in the flop comes K 3 8. you bet 400 one person calls. the turn deals a 3. the other guy goes all in you call he has A 3 you lost all or most of your chips. this happen to me last night:mad: . so dont ever slow play AA in a tournment bet it up. if you do slow play and get sucked out on its your fault so dont be mad. this is what you should rasie with AA on preflop and flop.

preflop x8 big blind at least
flop allin if they cant beat you or you know they have nothing

I'm with RounderD... unless I'm at a table where I know the people relatively well (either online or not), I don't slow-play AA, KK or QQ... if the donks are gonna crack my big pp, by golly, they're gonna pay up front for it.

Limping in wasn't horrible...the way you played it the rest of the way was. You bet 400 into a 2400+ whatever the antes were pot on the flop. And once the board paired and the guy went all in, that should sent massive signals off. All you had was a pair, even if it is aces...dump it.

And raising "8x atleast" with it....wat?!?!

Never just call with AA. This is suicidal. Don't do it! Raise it up and steal the blinds and antes. Or get called knowing that you are in the lead. Sure sometimes it can work out by limping and then say the flop is kinghigh and the other player has kingqueen thinking he is sucking you in to HIS pot. And then bam you win with an overpair to his king.

I disagree you can limp with aces, but only if you are prepared to fold i.e this situation. Its very profitable vs those who cant fold TPTK. Though I only limp in very special occasations.

This is the only time I do get upset, when I've made a stupid play. What else is there to be made about, poor players? I like them. Bad luck? It's poker.

Doesn't change a thing whether slow play or not It is still a pair of Aces. Aggressive play narrow the field on that hand and maybe would not get beat by staight or two pair.

If I don't know the players at my table yet, early in a trny, i always raise the pocket aces. Otherwise, I have a tendency to slow play them, hoping to trap someone in a big pot. The drawback is, of course, ur gonna have ur aces busted at times, and unless ur strong enough to lay em down later, raise em up early!!

how do you bet 400 if the bb is 800?

Never take aa to the flop with more than you and your future stack's holder in the hand. don't make a min. raise on the flop if you're a beginner, you won't learn anything at all about other's hands; only allow them to draw cheaply.

gl next time

I feel that the need to isolate is so great with AA that I will play it all in almost all the time. If there is a big raise in front of me and I have AA I am almost surely going all in with it. No way i am letting 66 hit trips on the flop. Or worse yet Q8 hitting a FH.

Playing a hand like pocket aces is what seperates the pros from the muckers like myself. In this situation I would have slow played the aces especially if I thought they would easily get called. If you slow play though you have to have it in the front of your mind that you may need to fold them. Now I feel a slow play in this situation would have been a 3x the BB raise. Then when it looks like I might be beat I have to fold and be happy I didn't go all in and get sucked out on. I am still in the tournament and these things do have a way of evening out. If I get sucked out on there is no next hand.

the only time i slow play aces is when i am shortstaked, since my goal is win a big pot or double up so i would limp, min raise sometimes just to win a big pot,
but other than that i never slowplay anything.

I disagree with that 'bet atleast 8x preflop' because that will scare too many people off. I say 3-6x to get out the junk but keep in the pocket J's or AQs.

Then if the flop looks safe enought bet more than pot, not 400 into 2400 or whatever you did. Bet like 2800 there or enough to put you/them all in.

Limping with AA from EP is a horrible move unless you know that there will be a raise behind you by some LAG.

Sometimes it is better to slow play those pocket rockets. I can't even remember how many times I've been dealt AA, bet 5x the blind and some :eek::mad::eek::eek: calls with his A3 os, and the flop comes K 3 8. Even after betting strong the mofo calls and the turn deals a 3.

(So the advice is to bet 8x as opposed to 5x the blind? I don't think that makes any difference, especially when you have a mofo on your table. :D)

I slowplay AA only late in a tourney, when the FT is down to maybe 6-7 people. Both times I've done so, someone else has hit top pair on the board and I get paid off handsomely.

Yes, it happens all the time. You just have to raise enough with that AA and price A3 out of the hand. Slow play and you will get caught.
