I think the majority of people tend to stay attched to AK even when they miss the flop in limit. If the hand does not improve, they still slap on the blinders and jam the pot. I seem to have missed the flop the last 10 times with AK and the one time I made 2 pair I lost to a flush by the river. I guess play it hard preflop and adjust as needed on the board.

AK = Anna Kournakova hand....looks great but rarely wins!

AK is a hard habit to break. E-z to fall in love with that hand. Raise with it pre-flop. If you miss the board bet 1/2 pot or so, hopefully you can scare everyone out of the hand, if you miss the turn--check/fold.

but then again, you can't base your strategy on the results of the hands you play, which is what you seem to be doing.

...this won't work in limit games...

Like all drawing hands in limit you want to keep the pot small until you hit.

If you hit fatten the pot if there are no clear flushes or straights on the board.
