Folding most of my hands at this table, so i "should" have a tight table image, i think i put the brakes on at the right time. But in fairness the €40 i brought to the table stood at €82 when i left an hour after this hand...

Donkeys? It was only 5 handed, so you dont need a monster hand to get involved like you do in 10 player. A5 is borderline call, i'd have slung 4 6, but I supposed they were suited and he had 2/1, possibly 3/1 odds if he took a look at flop. Yep, once your raise was called (by open ended straight with Ace - got pot odds to at least see another card, and 2 pair - probably leading) you were right to stop betting, and when Ace flopped (as it always does with KK) you must have known that was that.

Small tables like that at low level are crap shoot - how are you supposed to try and work out what opponent has - could be anything!

Seems that the are a bit of a crapshoot Rob. I was only playing premium hands, but i was playing them very aggressively. I got the betting capped later on with AKs and flopped the nut flush, and got well paid for it, with 1 calling station and 1 raiser and me (re-raiser) for the FULL betting round. Totally nuts.
But from what i see careful play on these table at paradise can yeild some good results. But that was my second suck out in a row, and i just had to vent some !! Why play at $1-$2 if your going to call EVERY hand and EVERY raise ? Just find it difficult to understand these guys thinking.

I've played 6 player games at Noble - Had Ace and big kicker, Ace flopped, I bet, and was called by all 5 - Just how many aces are there in a pack - i'd love to know what some people call hands with!

I played my last ring game on party poker at the weekend. One of my opponents had clicked "auto call" box, which called no matter how much he was raised. I lost $25 in about 20 mins - he was up when I busted out (he flopped 2 pair twice, and did me twice with runner runner straights -all in about 15 hands).

Well you did not play that hand very aggressively before the flop. All you did was raise it 2x the big blind. Should have made it $4-5 to go. And after that low flop you should have bet another $5 - 10. If the A5 even went this far and was willing to pay out for a draw then you know how to play him later.

Looks like Limit though from the bet patterns. That was my assumption.

^^^^^^^ $1-$2 Limit ^^^^^^^^ And i came out from UTG with a raise, its as aggressive as it get im afraid.

These are the biggest limits i will play on-line, the odd $2-$4 game or smaller limit N/L. Still primarily a live player.

Oh sorry thought $1/$2 was something else. Also doesnt that mean you could raise it $2? Not sure I just play NL or PL

Why not just play .10-.25 NL games. I figure you would make more money there. Thats where I make all my money.

I did raise it to $2 XXIII, but on the turn and river the betting rounds double, to $2, thats what $1-$2 means, the small blind posts .50c BB $1, and the max raise was to $2, if i was re-raised then that would have been a different matter.

I done ok in the end though, doubled my stack and left the table, it was late at that stage and i was just home from a live game. Just hadnt had enough poker played for the night...

PMinty's play here is a school book example of being too passive.

With a crappy hand, he receives a great flop. Not excellent (the 7 must be scary for the potential straight draws, and also two spades), but he can't reasonably hope for a much better fit. But this is no way to play your two pairs against a possible draw.

So the A falls on the turn. He must have liked the look of that; he bet. Good! I think calling him down with KK is a decent play here. Not so sure I agree with the guy holding the A not raising it, but he must have had his sights on a straight, not a pair, I guess.

But then the river shows a 9. And now I have to wonder what PMinty was hoping for on the river (short of a full house), since he checked. His hand is not strong enough for a slow-play, so it's highly unlikely he was hoping to checkraise it. Was he afraid of T8?

From where I'm sitting, he missed out on ~3 big bets on this hand.

A case could be made for being cautious with hands like these, and I agree: They're dangerous hands. This is why one folds them pre-flop. But once he hit his two pairs, he was in for a win, presumably to the end. And getting full value for a post-flop strong hand is his only chance of affording to play loosely pre-flop. What was he reasonably hoping would fall on the turn or the river? Or was he hoping to push both of you out by raising on the flop and the turn?

Tenbob, I think you played your hand well. You did your job on the flop, and a scarecard came on the turn. Not much to do, and I believe you had the odds to call. No point for you to bet on the river either, since the only hands that would call that raise would be ones that would beat you. PMinty, on the other hand, would likely have gotten a call from at least the guy with two aces.
