OK, you can all laugh at this, I hope you do. BUT IT WORKED!!!!!!!!
Last weekend I won some cash at Absolute in that OFC Freeroll. I will let that fact prove that I can play a solid game at least occasionally.
However! It was a grind. Ask Alien what a grind it can be. I didn't play for several days cause I just didn't have it in me. Actually I may have played but played poorly.
While scooting around Absolute trying to figure where I would spend my windfall, I happened upon the ultimate donkfests, .02/.04 holdem tables.
First day, which I think was thursday , I took in the min 40 cents, and left after an hour with $1.40.
Today I decided to play a particular style. Not LAG, but maybe close.
ATCP Any 2 cards passively. And I do mean any 2 cards, even the ones that made me cringe. Stats showed I was seeing the flop 96% of the time, and I can tell you it was only cause I was up peeing that it wasn't 100%.
At this table, it was mostly limpers, which fit perfectly, allowing me to see the turn probably more often that I would normally think possible. I would fold passively against almost any pressure, unless I had something. I would never raise pf, except when I would reraise. I would reraise with ANY pair. I was calling raises with nice suited connectors. Always more than willing to fold. If runner runner would do it for me, I was in to a limp or minraise. I would fold if I needed runner runner and the action was hot.
I started with 2 bucks, had a lot of fun, and left with 3 bucks.
Do I recommend this style? Hell no!, but I had a romping good time and busted many people, several who practiced their name calling abilities on me.
I have done this before, played ATCP. Oddly I remember it worked then too. In a tourney even. The big difference between ACTP and LAG is the aggressive part. I was passive until I hit, then I got agressive. LAG is agressive until it becomes hopeless, then they fold. Did I get beat a lot, yup! But I beat a lot more catching the weirdest cards.
Would much of my play be considered DONKEY PRACTICE. You betcha!
