i have been doing really well online recently, added so much to my game including light 4 betting, floats etc. however when i have been playing live i have been going down a buy in here, a buy in there. i know some of it is variance, but it is difficult to play when i play one way online (advanced i would say) and another way live (ABC poker.) there is absolutely no point in 3 betting a lp raiser on the button with K 3o at the casino i go to, but i suppose it might also be the fact that i just play tourny's online, so my cash game skills have waned? i have been playing some Zoom cash to sharpen up a bit in the last few days as a result of this. when i go the casino the table is mostly all donks, with one or two good players occasionally and then they type of players who try to intimidate you with their aura, words and big betting. for example, last night after a night out we went to the casino, most of my best cash game live wins have come after a few drinks so that's not an issue. i bought in for £20, the blinds are £0.25/ 0.25. i just play the lowest buy in, not because i am not good enough, but sometimes i feel if i play higher stakes tournys/ higher cash games then i get a bit nervous and slightly intimidated and play nowhere near my A game. so i prefer to play relaxed and well. i will need to solve this problem but it is just a confidence thing. everyone was limping, i was near the button with Q 9o, not a great hand so kind of better to thin the field and try pick up the pot with a c bet. so i raised. the usual sighs arose when i did so. another hand the flop was checked around, it was A high with 2 hearts and i had A 9 of diamonds, i bet like 2/3 pot and it folded round to the kind of guy who thinks he is good at poker (middle aged man) and tries to more intimate players in order to try and win than through actual poker skills. he enquired about how much i had, and then folded. i did not utter a word and simply spread my chips. because i was actually raising hands i think he felt the need to try to scare me and put me down a peg. and thus these are the types of players i love and thrive to beat. not the donks or the beginners. anyway, what is the best way to play v these types of players? i have played a decent amount live, but nowhere near as much as online. one line i take is to check my good hands and look kind of scared, as this is when they bet big and you can snap them off. v donks i bet for value. and v thinking players i do exactly that- think. throw in some bluffs as they fold and try to put them in tough spots.
what aspects from my online game do i need to transfer as i feel my live game has slipped a bit?
ahh it is so frustrating as live players are terrible. i would back most $0.01/0.02 cash game players over the ones at my casino haha. or should i simply not bother playing live and just focus online? cheers!
