Does giving the BB the walk often make him respect your raises more later?

I found that if I give the BB the walk a few times in a row, and then I raise him from the SB or from the button he will give me a little more respect and won't make as many big plays or loose calls. What do you guys think?

I think that folding the SB early in the game (whether tournament or ring) helps to define you as a tight player. If that's the image you want, it's a relatively inexpensive way to invest in it.

If I want the respect of the BB, I rarely raise them when I first sit down. I'll just limp when it's blind vs. blind early on, setting up for steals later.

Also, if you can manage to limp against the BB and show down a strong hand against them, it pretty much guarantees they won't raise your SB limp ;)

Ken, I agree only in so much that if you have not been able to win then you are short stacked moving forward and have lost their respect anyway. It is always good to mix it up but I prefer to always make the bb pay to beat my hole cards.

Always implies that you are raising the BB every time it's checked to you in the SB. Is this really what you meant, or is it really a smaller percentage of the time?

I think that the BB better repsect your rasie no matter wha y unless he has an awsome hand becuase if he doesnt he is in bad position if the flop yeilds nothing for him. Second I wouldnt try and blind steal in a tourney
until the blinds are worth something say 150-300 plus antes or higher
I think if you blind steal early in the tourney youll be gone as quick as they realize your stealing worthless blinds of 10-20 and up to 50-100 only steal blinds when they can add to your stack and give you a nice % to your stack when you do.
