I disagree with this comment mate.
Yes while I can be fun to take a shot and play outside your roll once in a while it is more times than not going to end up badly.
BRM I think is essential to anyone who wants to make money in poker. There is no rush to move up levels as poker for me is all about constantly learning and having fun.
If you are serious about the game then yes BRM is a must but if you just like to play the odd MTT now and again for fun or play a bit of cash once or twice a week and have enough money to re-deposit if you go broke then then I suppose it is not as important.
I see no harm in being aggressive with your BRM when starting of at the micros if you are certain you can beat the stake you are playing, but I would still suggest a minimum of 20 buy-ins at whatever stake you are playing if playing cash and don't be afraid to move down levels if you have to.
The higher the stakes the more buy-ins you need imo, as edges become smaller and variance becomes higher.
I guess it just boils down to how serious you are about poker.
Phlegmatic what is your main game ? Cash or MTT and what stakes are you currently at ?
