Cash game strategy. What is yours? I like to see flops majority of the time. Rarely will you see me RR preflop with AK, AQ or any hand like that. Gets you into far too much trouble. My post flop play is usually much stronger than my opponents and I can make some solid calls.plays with bottom, mid pair when I'm reading well.

How about you what is the cash game strategy you find most effective?

I'll almost always re-raise with A/K.
Not only do I take the pot most of the time, but it builds it up the pot when I'm more likely than not to be ahead and chases out lesser hands that can draw out on you.

Of course, having stats on a person effects my play as well. I'd gladly re-raise with A/J against some people.

Don't get me wrong. I like post-flop play. I just like it more when I have the best hand and there's a pot worth fighting over.

Sorry just don't agree with playing AK that way. Cash game wise it is a weak hand IMO.

I gotta agree with wolfpack here, I rarely reraise with AK, unless the first raiser was in steal position, or if I have to play it out of position (if I'm in the sb or bb). Or if the blinds are high in a tournament. Other than that it's just a calling hand.

AK is one of many hands that I would rais.... And rerais.

I like to see many flops if the competition is weak.

I might raise in position with AK, but I dont have it in me to reraise with it. Maybe at the right table if it was suited. LOL I have been burned too many times driving the pot up only to have nothing to help it on the flop. I would much rather raise once, drive out the smaller hands, then play after the flop.

How is it a weak hand in a cash game in comparison to, I'm assuming, a tournament?
If you flat call pre-flop, you are giving up all advantage in the hand. When you re-raise, you are making the correct percentage play, while being more aggressive into the pot.
By calling, we have almost no clue where we are at in the hand. If we call a raise, and check/fold on a missed flop, we just got cheated out of some money we could have easily won by simply 3-betting pre-flop.
AK is a very strong hand, but, at times, can be extremely overvalued.

Most people don't 3bet enough. I'll almost always reraise with AK, usually with AQ, and occasionally with even weaker holdings against the right opponent. Why let someone see a flop at the price they want to pay. When you 3bet there are just more ways to win and when you do hit your hand there's more $$ in the middle.

Agree with previous 2 posts. ^^^

I dont like the idea of letting people in for free. That is crazy and begging for a smaller hand to hit on the flop, where you lost all advantage. I am not so convinced on the reraise. (though if there are alot of people in the pot after the first raise when it gets to me I will - that is to drive people out of the pot though, not so much to build up the ammount in the middle)
