Does anyone find both profitable or prefer just to stick to one or the other?

Personally I prefer to 6 max I find It easier to make decisions and put people on a range, steal pots. With 9 max I feel there's alot more waiting around and the risk factor for investment tends to feel higher if the table is getting alot of multiway pots

From what I've learned from browsing these forums is that 9 max is preferred over 6 only because you see less blinds. You have more options as to which hands to play without the blinds slowly chipping away at your stack.

I prefer 6 max myself. As you have said it is easier to get a feel for the game and I like to play a lot of hands and it would be far less profitable to do so in the 9max

Con at MTT cash games are definitely the blinds on 6m, but I still would prefer to play 6m than 9m ( I dont play cash a lot ). In 6max you will play a larger variety of hands, and there will be definitely wider variants of opening ranges. Of course, in both types it will pay off good if you take your first hour to just study your opponents, find their weak spots and exploit them. Also in 6m you wont have to worry about your opponent having an enormous hand. For example a set in a 9m game with 2 or more opponents is not such a big deal, but in 6m it kind of is. There will be less flushes and straights and such. Dont know. As I said, I prefer 6m aswell. Yes, the blinds will hit you way faster than in a 9m game, but its not like youre sitting at the table with all of your money. BRM is important. If you have the proper bankroll for particular limits you will not worry about blinds diminishing your stack, so.

Always 6 max cash tables for me. I tried 9-handed for a short while but just felt it was way too slow paced and dint like the style of play as much, so immediately went back to 6 max. You also get in trickier spots in 6 as people will play a wider range and you wont be able to tell if you're beat as easily. People argue that you will improve more quickly by playing 6 max too.

I think we as poker players have to becareful... I think poker sites will like 6max more but with variance and ppl wanting to raise their bankroll I think full ring is best and lower varience.

It depends on my mood ,if I know I am mellow it will be full ring otherwise 6 max is better.

Yeah, poker sites really love 6max over 9max. Action, variance, rake etc are fast.
It really depends on your personality that suits. Added consideration is BR likewise.

I was playing a slightly aggro 6 max game and struggling to profit but found moving to a 9 max game is much much easier with softer players and you are in the blinds less often. Kind of all around +EV but it is a little slower so I just play more tables and overall just win more.

I play 6 max one that I have less opponents ....and I think it is not as chaotic as the 9 max.

Play both at the same time. I like the action at 6 max games, but I honestly prefer full ring games

6 max seems better to me, although the variance and blinds are killers. I personally do not like fr 9 online...although lately I have been thinking I should give it another try.

This is so overstated, but if your new or just not very good then play full ring - it will help you get better. Just remember that patience is important. As you develop your skills transition to 6max and then when you become the next Tom Dwan transition to highstakes HUNL (200/400) against whales and hongkong bankers

....well that's my plan anyways but the last part still hasen't been achieved

I started playing 6-Max and I played 9 handed only a couple of times excluding tournaments. I just found the game a bit mechanical and decided to stick to 6-Max. The blinds are annoying, but it improves your play a lot faster as you play a lot more hands, so you get into all kinds of situations.

Full Ring is good for beginners and when I think back, if I began on Full Ring I would've saved myself some money.

Full ring is great for mass multi-tabling. 6 max is good for exploiting weak opponents in a shorter amount of time, yet higher variance. It's really a preference and depends on my mood as well
