I usually grind out 2NL and multi table 3 tables. My BR got down to $3 than I started studying before getting back into it. I grinded up to $18 in a month but just feel like it's a waste of time?
I played some zoom 10NL today and found it more fun coz there was more money to win. I made $15 in 1 hour. I've been playing some tournaments to mix it up a bit, this tends to get me back into doing it for fun again. My BR is $33. Although my bank isn't enough for 10NL should I just take a shot at it until I lose a buy in? I don't tilt as much and take it more serious but I don't want to put money into my account yet either.

You're not rolled for 2nl let alone 10nl, but if you just want to be a recreational player than sure, 1 table 10nl. Chances are you'll eventually lose it and then are you going to redeposit or what? It's impossible to say you can beat 10nl because you made $15 in an hour. It all depends if you actually want to win money or just play for fun. 2nl may seem like a waste of time because of the small winnings in term of dollars, but it's pretty impossible to just start making a living wage after playing poker for a few months. You basically have to get into it because you enjoy the game. The grinding a BR at the micros isn't about big wins, but progressing in the 'game' of poker - like a video game in some sense.

How you're treating BRM means you won't be able to play poker seriously.

Yes, proper bankroll management. You're going to lose your bankroll if you don't adjust now. Go back to 2NL and don't move up to 5NL until you've hit at least $100.

People who are successful at poker are successful at it because the love the game more than they love the money. Money is secondary. You're on lvl 1 of the game and you don't make more money until you progress through the levels.

It's always more fun when you play higher skill levels IMO. But that being said, you have to be at that level to enjoy it. Strange to think cash is boring but tournaments aren't. I find the tournament grind extremely boring, but if the stakes are good I'll do it.

Anyway, at that bankroll you should know that you can work your way up from 2NL to higher, otherwise it's a losing ordeal at higher stakes. Poker intelligence increasing will correlate with your higher stakes success in the long run. So yes you could maybe get lucky grab a nice big pot, but that luck will only last so long.

Your post and your title are not really congruent.

Title: How to overcome boredom.

Post: I want to play and get lucky, and ignore standard rules of BRM.

I am not trying to be mean. But, that is a pretty accurate summation, IMHO.

As far as BRM, well, it is up to you. MTT and STT - and zoom, btw. - are all high variance poker. You are on a heater. The cooler will eventually be there as well. It is up to you how you want to use you BR, but this way, you either have to be really lucky or you will be broke at some point.

As far as the boredom goes, I have had the same issue. At the moment, I am playing no more than 4 tables (I used to play up to 24, but my poker skills were no where near where they have to b to play this many tables). When I started taking my thought process more seriously, I now concentrate on all action at the tables. In every hand, I try to watch the action street for street and see if I can put the players, or my opponent, if I am in the hand, on ranges, and if it goes to showdown see how my estimates were. That in itself keeps me occupied. There is so much to think about in poker, and if you try to get used to having a thought process you follow, you can start to see where you were wrong, mark the hands for review later to see why you were wrong (or if the player just plays randomly, in which case you cannot assign specific ranges, get info from bet siting etc.)

You could just deposit 50$ and grind 2nl and try to play serious.

You said in your OP that it seems a waste of time. Financially, 2nl is a waste of time (in most countries) especially if you are playing to learn, and playing few tables to get your strategy, reads, using info such as bet sizing, position etc., better.

But, if you have a poker goal, this may be one of the steps you have to take to move on. Having a goal, and knowing that certain things must be mastered before moving on, AND... knowing it isnt easy, could help to alleviate the boredom.

Getting GOOD!! at anything wont be easy.

GL.

Will I maybe find live games more fun? I always think that live is slower but atleast you can talk to people and see what they are doing. I'm underage so I can't go to a casino

You shouldn't be playing real money poker if you're underage.

But anyway, I'll give some advice that will be useful to you after you turn 18 years old:
Ask yourself what poker means to you. Is it just a recreational game or is it something you're serious about succeeding at? If you're serious about poker and want to become successful at it, then you need to start from the bottom, learn the basics, stick to proper bankroll management and move up slowly and gradually. If you're just treating it like a recreational game that you play for fun, then by all means play 10NL. You might even find the small stakes games more fun than the micro stakes games, since there's more aggression and more bluffing going on. Live games are fun too and you can get a good conversation going with other players on your table. A lot of live players hate online poker because it's viewed as anti-social and boring. They enjoy taking a trip to the casino, drinking a few beers and having a conversation with others. Experiment with everything to find out what you enjoy the most. But always keep in mind the reason why you're playing and what you hope to get out of it.
