Not everyone. Depends much on bankroll.

Much bankroll, go for max. Limited bankroll, Ill go for the minimum.

Its better to play with 100BB, when u`re feeling comfortable with deep stacks its simple that u can earn more. Short stack strategy its more gamble than skill

Always buy-in for 100BB. And I think you have to be very solid preflop and postflop in order to play deep. Any mistake PF or on any street can be highly magnified when you're 200BB+ deep. Also, getting sticky with one pair hands like TPTK or an overpair is not what you want to especially do deep. And stacking off with KK for 200+BB deep PF is probably a big mistake, but for 100BB is pretty standard.

Personally, I always go deep stack because I think I have an edge over the other players. Also, people seem to play way less back at you when you're 500BB+ deep. They tend to give up more on SB steals, c-betting, and just let you have it haha. I did lose 2 500BB pots recently, but I got it in as 82/18 and 90/10. Surprised that I didn't get one-outered for my first 500BB pot with the way I run sometimes haha.

If you have an edge over the table, buyn in deep. If you dont have an edge, find a new table.

I almost never buy in for the maximum amount. I like playing shortstacked.

There is some edge when playing shortstack where as Lag with big stack tend to call your shove move often even you got premium like pocket AA.

It's a real balance in my opinion. When you buy in for the maximum you immediately have an advantage over players who have not. The simple fact you have more to bet with says something about you. The fact you buy in at minimum may also say something about you! The other risk is at min buy in an all in shout is less risky, but balanced against you will win less if you go all in with your min buy in. Also, if you buy in for min then if you lose a few hands it soon shows others how you are playing (badly) whereas a few losses from max buy in doesn't leave the same message. It's a personal strategy thing!

I usually start with deep stack, just for presure on other players with low stacks. But sometimes my bankroll doesnt allow me to start with deep.

5nl and 10nl

If you are playing short stack I am going after you. Not just once but over and over every chance I get. You can't flop the nuts every time and if I lose its less than 1/2 my stack. Love to squeeze the short stack with middle pairs, either get the fold or get it in with 55-70% equity and better than 1:1 odds. Just my current strategy we'll see if it lasts.

It depends on your bankroll and the kind of game you are going to play. If you want to take shots at higher limits you could try playing short. If you are willing to play tight and see flops only with hands that are on top of your range short is ok. If you want to put more pressure on others you should buy in for the max amount.
Be careful though because playing short always looks a little fishy and you could be pushed around at the table.
No argument though that there are some very good players that are bankrolled to play deep but buy in by choice.

As I learn to play cash and do it badly for now I prefer a half stack in NL2. Losses are restricted only $1 at a time.
