But like tournament play better, should I stick to cash games or still play both?

Do what you wish. Just keep in mind - cash is a bit different in nature. It's a true "grind," whereas tournaments involve increasing blinds and the constant need to build a stack quickly in order to survive.

I love playing cash at the casino on tournament days. A lot of tourney regs find it difficult to adjust to the pace of cash and will play with an unnecessary urgency that puts them in tons of marginal spots. In short, they spew.

It's about comfort level. Also cash games require a lot of discipline. If you are the type of person who can walk away from a game with no issues and leave when it turns bad, then cash might be for you. If you struggle with discipline, play tournaments. They make you leave lol

I think that cash and tournament are both fun games to play. I really believe that the cash game can really be a helpful for being better in tournament play. Also I believe the cash game can allow you to become a better hand reader and can give you better ideas on making better decisions. Make sure that you are patient at the cash game though. You will fold a ton of hands because you want to make sure that you have your money in good spots.

Plenty of people make a killing playing MTTs, variance is much greater than cash but I wouldn't say that cash necessarily more profitable. And there is certainly something to be said for playing what you enjoy, when haven't had a break from cash grinding for a while I do get bored and it affects the quality of my play.

I thought I was good at tournament before. But ,I have to say, the man who play tournament often is not a good player, or they don't play carefully in free tournament and low stack. This will give people a false impression.

Cash is more profitable if you do better at cash, like op says he does.

Tournaments are exciting, perhaps for the competition, but it is more exciting winning cash.
As of my statistics the profit per hour while playing cash is much bigger than the profit per hour playing tournaments.

But wouldn't a tournament player say the opposite if they do better at tournaments? I think that if you can do both but just track your results and see what is better for you OP.

Except that OP didn't say how he defined profitability. For example, let's say I play 100 hours of tournaments, winning $500, as well as 10 hours of cash, winning $100. I could say either one is more profitable.

Purely opinion but

Cash

Advantage
- flexible times - this one sold it for me, the nature of my job does not allow me to ever get stretches more than 4 hours long

-'relatively low variance - it still is a bitch

- arguably more potential for profit and more rake back grind potential - don't think I have heard of an mtt grinding supernova elite member, anyone can chime in?

- learning cash, you can transition to mtt easier for the occasional big game you've been saving your FPPs for (stars only)

Disadvantage

- some find playing the same 100 bb stacks and going ring a round the rosy boring as watching paint dry

- more intense studying IMO

MTT and SnGs

Advantage

- more exciting by far - especially for psychos who run hot and love to bully

- potential for life-changing wins

- is "solved" to a certain extent, if you play fairly quick structures and use the push shove charts correctly, you're never exploitable - not applicable to deep stack and slow structures obviously, but online mtts usually are not. This point may be a disadvantage actually lol

- players at microstakes are even worse than 2nlers IMO

Disadvantage

- Variance is **** , if you never believed in being born unlucky mtts will make you think otherwise

- in SnG mostly - people to your left who calls all your steal attempts, totally oblivious to he fact that they are hurting you AND themselves when everything is considered ( read ICM)

- you get morons vying for the big score with lottery style play, and the suck outs they hand out to you with crap that they decide to call for no real reason and bonk a 2 pair with vs your over pair when you're both 15 bb deep.
You will break something for sure.

- transition to cash (inevitable due to reasons above) will give you a massive culture shock
