I did a quick search in this forum and didnt come across anything devoted to deepstack play. Its yet ANOTHER part of the game that I am lacking. When I get deep, 175bb or more, my play tends to deteriorate. I get real loose and slide towards passivity. Since I've been trying this multitabling thing I find I am deepstacked a few times per session. Tonite I was 300bb deep and just sat out for awhile.
If this has already been covered somewhere, sorry, but as I've made obvious, I've become somewhat of a post whore ever since I realized my ignorance with this game:eek:.
So....
What play changes are generally made?
Are we willing to take more risks with the extra ammo or should we maintain an even keel?
How many 'It depends' answers do you think I'll get?
Thanks all

For starters, you can only consider yourself playing deep stacked if others are deep as well. If you are the only deep stack at the table and you find yourself calling peoples bets lighter than you usually would just because you have a bigger stack in front of you, you should probably consider moving tables and buying in for your normal 100bb again.

As for playing against other deep stacks, I don't have much experience but you will have a lot more room for chasing draws, sets etc because of the greater implied odds. Also there can be bigger bets being made on the flop and turn as people will be chasing these draws more often.

A ton.

Sets, connectors, and ace high flush draws go up in value. I put connectors in front of the flush draws because straights tend to have more implied odds, and when you're deep, implied odds are king.

1 pair hands go down in value a lot.

Yeah one thing I have noticed while playing deep stacked is that I tend to check/check the turn a lot more with TPTK, because that type of hand doesn't play well against another deep stacked player. If you're playing for stacks you do NOT want to stack off with TPTK. 98% of the time you will be beat.

are you the only deepstack or are effective stacks bigger?
if you ae only deepstack this is a psychological problem of your bloated ego probably or the fear factor of losing what you've earned if you are talking about effective stacks being 200bb+ then that's just going way past my understanding of the game (vrs good opponents obviously.)

Is there an Echo in this thread, or are my ears playing up again?
