What do you do in this situation. You have Ak spades the flop reads qs 6h and 9 d do you do a continuation bet in this situation or just check. Mainly I am posting this to find out how many people lead out with a strong bet after the flop though they have missed everything. Now 4th street comes and its a 4 h 2 people left in hand both called quickly after your second bet. My read is they are sticking around because they caught 1 of the 3 cards but the question is do you just call on 4th or bet for the 3rd time. Again Im just trying to find leaks in my game and all replys would be appreciated. I myself in this situation continuation bet after the flop though I missed then check on 4th if 2 or more are still in the hand.I will look for new replys to this thread and again I thank you all for your insight's. Jimmy McCabe:)

Leak, Over valueing Big slick

The flop totally missed you and there are all kinds of straight possibilities on the board, not to metion the possibility that someone was holding a pocket pair.

What are you hoping will hit?

I usually continuation bet. It depends...on (in no particular order) position, stack size, my opponent(s), spidey sense, my M, my Q and/or my state of mind at the moment.

Sometimes they just can't wait to fold. :p

Others are always comin' right back at me.

I will usually continuation bet here, but like goldog said, it really depends on the situation. Your position, the action in front of you, your read on your opponents, etc.

If it's checked around to you, make a continuation bet and see what happens.

Typically, if someone bets into me I'll let this hand go unless I have a really good read on them.

The biggest thing here is to not push the hand to much, if you've missed let it go.

I would usually c-bet about 2/3 pot size on this flop if i have position v a couple of opponents checked infront, but if you do this & are called by both of them they are still interested in this flop, either they have made a pair or drawing to something like TJ as 2/3 pot bet gave u this info use it & slow down, u will have to fold the turn if u face a bet unless u have any reads on these players & put them on a draw but 90% of time fold.

If im out of position i will still c-bet but might do it a bit different i might check-raise if 2 players have position on me, we both check to the guy with pos he will prob stick out a bet & i will raise him putting him on nothing but position representing a big hand & if he just checks i get 2 see turn for free b ut if he fires back i will give up the hand, but all in all it depends on position, stack sizes, players, & the texture of the flop its all about gaining info that will help you make the correct decision so the question u could ask yourself is "do i need to bet to work out if im ahead" the answer is prob yes as u will get no info just checking, u need to think about WHY you are betting/raising & dont just do it for the sake of it.

GL & have fun!!!

Raising preflop and then not c-betting is inviting opponents yo steal from you. If you're first into the pot, always continue your aggression. You'll take it down right therter as large % of the time.

There is no "always" in poker. Being that predictable is dangerous.

To the OP, it depends.

What are the stack sizes?
What is the size of the pot in relation to the stack sizes?
How many people are still in the hand?
Texture of the flop? Is it coordinated, or likely to have hit someone?
Are the people still in the hand named "ATT", "Verizon" or "Vonage" and will call call call you with anything?
What hands have I shown down? Have I shown cbets with air, or just winning hands? My table image?
My position?

I was responding to the situation in the OP, 2 callers, flop of Qs,6h,9d. and my answer was, and still is, alwats make a modest c-ber. That's a specific answer to a specific hypothetical. I don't see that as predictable.

Okay, you got 2 quuck calls, no reraise. Inferenc from this? One call is some kind of draw,J10 possibly ot 78.. I put the pther on pairing the 9s, or Q,marginal kicker.

Either way, the turn cones a blank (4h). You took your shot. time to do one of 2 things, based on you read of the villains, stack size, size of the pot, all that other stuff..A) Check the turn, fold to additional betting from either villain, waut for a better op.OR B) Takr a second stab;push hard, find out where everybody's really at,ie, are they drawing/posing, or do they want to go to war with their hand?

Anyway, your c-bet garnered you info you needed, so you're not sitting around scratching your nads, and it could've taken the pot right there.

Sometimes, when i know im being percieved as a tight player who only bets when he has something, i might throw out the bet just to try and use it to my advantadge. However, im not inclined to bluff often; im not fond of it really.

If I am first to act or it is checked to me I am C- betting nearly every time. How much depends entirely on conditions. 1/2 pot is a good general rule.

I read a good article in CardPlayer magazine about continuation betting....They basically say that it is overused and that good players on the other side of the continuation bet will read it and bet aggressively to take the pot down.....usually i either bet hard if the person is loose and i think they missed or i put a feeler bet out there to see where im at....mainly if you miss with AK lay it down if you missed it will save you a lot of money!
