So I sit down at a cash game last night. At first there were 5 other players. My range is usually pretty tight but because there were only 5, I opened up quite a bit more. I was playing really well with marginal hands and was able to get up $250.
A few others showed up and soon there were 11 at the table. I got the worst string of cards I can ever remember having, actually getting 93 off 5x in a row. The best hand I had I had all night was QQ but because of a dealing error I couldn't keep them! I also had KJ off which I folded after 4 others had called a $60 pre-flop bet. I would have ended up winning the hand with KJ KJ but I'm really happy with the fold, seeing as how I was definitely a loser pre-flop. I'm happy with my self-control.
So I tried to trap, figuring that I would get at least a marginal hand to open up my range with, but nothing came, so I bled out my profit and walked away even.
I probably should have just left while up 200 and knowing that it wasn't my night but I also don't believe in that whole "it isn't my night" kind of crap. At the same time I've never seen so many rags in my life.
What should I have done? Should I have played any differently? Thoughts?
