Hey everyone recently me and some of my friends here at work decided to play so texas holdem one night. There isnt alot of ways to get cash out here so we just decided to play 01 cent 02 cents blinds. about 7 of us bought in with 5 bucks and decided we were just gonna play a cash game and not tourny. To make a long story short i quickly found out that i could raise 6 cents with a good hand or raise 20 cents with a good hand and was still gonna get at least 4 callers just to see the flop. My main question here is i was in the cut off and raised 10 cents preflop. the button folded sb called bb called and the person to act right before me called. oh by the way i had J 10d. the flop came Ad Jc 6d. so i know im on a flush draw and i know my friends hand ranges are way to wide to put them on anything. the sb checks and the bb bets 20 cents. well everyone folds except me and i call hoping to turn a diamond. at this point im pretty sure the bb has ace rag. (had a problem folding any pair of aces all night even something like A3o. the turn comes a kc. i know i dont have anything but a pair of jacks here so mid pair but i know if i hit a flush he is gonna call whatever i bet with his pair of aces. well he bets a dollar this time and i fold. my question is when should you chase your flush to the river when should you fold. Now this was a friendly game among coworkers and friends but i often findmyself wondering if i should chase the flush till the river sometimes if its a decent high flush draw or just fold away. any help on this matter would be most helpful. Also i am not able to play online right now and wont be able too till around may so all i have are these cardschat posts for help and to improve my game. thanks you guys and i look forward to all the help i can get.

From the description, you should chase it. Why? You said, if you make it, he will pay you off. Putting a dollar in to stack him for 3 more easily gives us the odds to try and catch. Plus, we have a gutshot and probably any J also.

The answer to your question is... You should chase the FD to the river, if you are getting the right pot odds. You aren't getting them here, but you are saying we are getting the implied odds to chase it, so it is basically the same thing.

.10 x 4 = .40c preflop
He bets 1/2 pot and on the flop you have 9 outs for your flush(not the nuts), 2 outs for trips(not the nuts), 3 outs for middle two(not nuts), so 14 outs for improving your hand, but not necessarily to the best, so you're about 51% to improve, so you're getting about the right odds on the call on the flop, but you're just not guaranteed to be drawing to the nuts or even the 2nd nuts.

For the turn, you can add 3 more outs for the Q's that make your gutter, so that brings you up to 17 outs to improve(although the 10 might make his straight), so you're about 37% to improve. Now the pot is .80c and he overbets the pot, so it's $1.80 and it will take you $1 to call, so you're getting 1.8 to 1 and you don't have the outs to call this one. You would need to win 56% of the time for it to be a correct call and it just isn't there. Now when you throw implied odds into the mix, things can vary. I find implied odds very interesting because most of it is all based on personal opinion, not fact.

thanks guys. yeah if i hit i know the guy is gonna pay me like i said all night he cant let go of top pair no matter the kicker. maybe i was tilted a little bit after he beat my top pair top kicker which was AQo with a 2 pair he called a 10bb raise with 63o and he was oop. i guess i was tilted and would have lost it had he had like Arag. anyway i never saw the straight out there i guess i was worried about that flush cause i wanted to win his stack. i dont like to chase to often cause i feel i wont hit enough to make money long term but sometimes i wonder if i should or shouldnt no matter the bet. anyways thanks for the help guys

If you know he'll pay you off, the remaining stack sizes after he bets the turn are all that matter really. Since you don't give them to us, we can't help you.

I'd like to have read this mate, but it is too much trouble without some level of punctuation and paragraphs. It all runs together and is just too much for my old eyes. Work on the punctuation, paragraphs, and Cap letters if you want more folks to take it seriously.

Chasing a flush draw will normally bleed away chips quickly in a SnG and MTT and CASH in a Ring game. Without it being the absolute NUTS, I'd say no, but the "specific" circumstance may warrant it.

My best, Wally :)

If faced with chasing a flush against me, do it, it is ev+ 90%
I get flushed on the river more than a McDonalds bathroom.
