I've found this can be quite profitable on the cash tables. Say you play to the best you can, and haven't made any big mistakes. Then you get a really bad beat where someone sucks out on you in a big pot. Either the villain is gloating or you feel sh*t and call him a donkey and you're upset. This happens to everyone sometimes no matter how good or bad you are.

Then consider trying this -- you can fake being on tilt. Call him a donkey and act really pissed off. Reload to max buy-in at the table. Then for the next few hands, if you get anything like A5, K9, etc, some hand that doesn't play well on the flop but is good for a showdown, just hit the all-in button real quick preflop.

9 times out of 10, someone will call, and most likely villain who just beat you before will call.. even with something like J9, 34, etc etc. They think you are tiltin' and can't wait to bust you. But they don't know that you are faking it and only going all-in on hands that are good at showdown.

I have done that many times following a bad beat and if the A6 all-in first hand after a bad beat doesn't win, I leave the table. If it hits and I'm doubled up and suddenly biggish stack, next hand if it's Asomething, again I go all-in. Now they ALL think I'm on huge tilt and being a maniac and 2 or 3 players will often call. What's happened is that many times after a bad beat, in the next 2 hands if I catch good cards I end up making 8 times the bad beat loss back.

Anyone having done the same calculated strategy?

i agree with fake tilt but shoving K9 a5 sounds like real tilt to me. in situations where i've been sucked out on (they river set over set or something similar when we were all in with me way ahead) ill shove the next hand if it's a monster in some cases, after faking tilt.

Depends on your bankroll relative to the table buy-in I guess, but I've found that after a really bad beat, next hand if I got A6 and shove, very very often I get called by Q10, K9, A2, etc etc, all at a dog to my A6. I should also clarify that I would especially do that if I'm in button/SB/BB after the table all folded or just a few limpers to me with no preflop raise.

The faking tilt part is a sound strategy, but I won't push with A6. This is something I might set up with a simple comment like "I can't believe I've been sucked out on again, that's the third time in 2 hours. I think I'll go grab a drink." Now if, and only if, a really strong hand is dealt to me, that all in move is an option. You have to be pretty sure you'll get action though, 2 to 1 maybe, or it's a better bet to just keep playing your best game.

Ever heard the phrase 'Throwing good money after bad?'

It would be better to raise aggressively and then fold rather than shove it all-in and lose it in one go,
the odds are you may hit a decent hand 'then' you can shove all-in as the table has seen you playing aggressively but not winning and will presume you have finally had enough.

Build the foundations first - dont just build any old house :)

these are poket pair winning percentages at showdown.

AA,88%... KK,85%... QQ,82%... JJ,79%... TT,77%... 99,74%... 88,71%... 77,68%... 66,65%... 55,63%... 44,60%... 33,57%... 22,55%

i think its not a bad but it would help shoving with better hands than k9.. and yes i have done something like this before but it was in a tourney, i took a really bad beat and next hand i had KK and i said screw this here take my chips and went all in and two donkeys with about same stack as me called me so fast one had 55 and another had 10J and i took one of em out and the other was left with like 500 chips. and after that i was getting good hands and everything and i believe i finished in 5th place

Huh, so your saying I should shove a hand - anticipating a call - where I will be, in most circumstances, a 60/40 favorite? Why?

You want to be a slight favorite? Why not advocate faking tilt, and as Joose stated, and then shove a monster? Think that makes a little more sense then A6 (surprise- your behind!).

Hey, but that's just me.:)

Jager and redbull right? Yeah, I'll have a few. Heck (substituted for a stronger word), if I could drive I would buy the stuff and have some right now.

Can we hijack a thread anymore?
