Yesterday i played my first live game at holland casino. Blinds are 2/2, min buyin is €50 max buyin is €150 and the rake is 10%.

It feels like this cant be profitable in the long run eventhough most of the people I played with were loose players. They were limping alot and were betting in a weird way. They were not that good.

I did win some money but i am not convinced that I can turn this into a profitable hobby. What do you think?

You have said you play live games before. Is the rake at the live games you play not 10%? In my experience, 10% is a typical live rake. The biggest factor isn't the rake, it would be the cap on the rake. A place that takes up to $4 is a lot better than one that takes up to $6. And both of those are significantly better than a game with no cap, where they take 10% of the entire pot.

I see at least one club in the UK with a 5% live rake, but the cap is double the games with a 10% rake. It is better to pay 10% capped at 5 pounds, than 5% capped at 10 pounds, unless you have a real tight and small game, where people just give up a ton of small pots. That isn't your usual live low limit game.

I only play tournament IRL, not cash game, the tipping part is so annoying and also I just play so much better when I don't have to care how my face looks or how fast my heart is thumping to give reads.

If the rake is 10% and no cap, the only winner is the house. As noted the game is playable if the rake is capped at 5 or 6 pounds.

No, typical rake should be 4-5%.

Once I played 7% and people were too angry about it, it's just too much. Never seen 10% for all my offline gambling.

10% rake with no cap in a small game is definitely unbeatable over time. Having never played in a live game in Holland, I'd bet there is a cap. Imagine how much counting every pot and dragging 10% out of it would take. The $1/$2 live game I play on occasion has a $1 max rake with $1 to the bad beat jackpot. No flop no drop, but if you get a limper and the small blind folds they take the first dollar out of the $5 pot. If the the flop is folded that's a 20% rake.

With a 10 cap, I would estimate the house is taking over 200+ euros an hour. With that much money being taken off the table, there has to always be fresh buy-ins or in time there is not enough money on the table to make the game worthwhile.
