Hi Guys,

what are your views on cash games where you can run it more than once ..often we see recorded tv shows highlighting the excitement of running plays more than once..i am not a fan myself but appreciate the appeal it brings..
Let me know what your views are on this..

Regards

It protects you against variance.

Eh it makes the equity calculation much more difficult. If variance says you lose then you lose. All you can do is get it in with the best of it.

I kind of think it depends on who you’re playing against, with friends then sure run it twice, against people you don’t know and won’t see again then let it roll.

I normally have run it twice auto clicked. helps reduce variance a little imo.

I don't play at stakes where it would make a real difference. If I lose a stack, I lose a stack. If I was playing for amounts that really mattered, or for a living where I depended on a steady(ish) income, then I might consider it.

If you have the chance to run it twice (or even more) you should always do. It reduces variance, which is for any "serious" player, a good thing. The only reason I would think of to not do it is if it makes your PT or HM record the hand wrong (online).

As for tv poker, I have no idea why they do that, it's fun watching variance and they should mostly be for entertainment so it seems weird

I do like the option of being able to Run It Twice, though I think I would only consider it if the stakes being played were high enough (lets say 2/5 or higher in this case).

Also it will be player dependant and the sort of hand I am getting it in with preflop or on the flop (with one card to come I feel less inclined to run it twice).

Exactly, I mean, when you think about variance, the way to beat it is to tighten the range that you shove/ call all in with. The answer is not to run it twice. If it boosts your adrenaline or something, then run it 15 times, but poker-wise, doesn't affect overall play and strategy.
I think that run it twice was probably invented as a way of protection for a super high roller that just sat at the table with million dollars, meaning, for someone you don't want to see go home cause he shoved with KK against AA.
