Cash games: reload automatically or not?

Hi fellow poker-lovers,

Quick question from my side: whats the benefit of automatically reloading to max when playing cashgames?

I'm currently following Evan Jarvis' reco of playing with at least 40x Buyins and feel it is easier to keep track if you are loosing or winning if you do not reload - this also prevents me from reloading so many times that you loose a significant proportion of your bankroll..

ps. at the moment i play 0.01$/0.02$ with buyin of 1$ (without reload).

If i win a satisfactory amount (double up), I leave the table.
If i loose - i leave the table.

You maximize your value with full buy-ins.

You lose value when you buy-in short.

100bb is the best stack size for the given strategy from "the sources". Not 90bb, not 110bb, but 100bb.

Well you have a strange strategy. If you keep winning on a table, obviously the opposition is weak. You should continue on that table. If you lost on a table you should judge - if it was bad beat reload and continued but if opponents are tough, just look for another table.

Reload automatically.

It's good if you playing +ev and people raise on stack, but often 60-80bb enough to play and all on river in some pots. Sometimes low stack better to push with nice cards then push with 100bb

If you’re playing on a site that allows tracking software, that’s a great way to keep track of your results while still taking advantage of auto-rebuy features.

The benefit of auto-reload is, that it keep your stack at the desired level, so you dont need to manually chip up or adjust to different stack sizes all the time. If you are a winning player, then having the deepest possible stack will also increase your winrate. As Collin Moshman say, you can use a tracker to keep track (hence the name ) of your results, if for instance you want to set some kind of stop-loss per session.

I used to rebuy automatically. Don't do it anymore. I stopped using PT4 so I just find it easier to keep track of my performance by simply watching my stack.

Plus, at the micro levels it really doesn't matter if you're playing full stack or not. People are going to pretty much play their cards and their canned strategies regardless of whether you're a little on the short side. The "good" regs aren't going to play aggro-stupid just because you're shorter, and they're not going to fold a good hand just because you're deeper. The opportunities that come along where you can double-up (i.e., when the size of your stack really matters) are far and few between.

If you're shorter, you can just play a little tighter.

I think buying in for less, limits the actions you can do at a table and also prevents you from getting action. The more BB you have the more you are able to gamble on more types of spec type hands, goal here is to invest very little (less then 5% effective stack) to potentially win a lot. On the flip side of that, if I was to call a bet or raise with my hand and I look at your stack, I more apt to either fold my cards or make you go all in (only with premium hands), as you do not have enough chips to win. Example, you have QQ UTG and raise to .06, MP calls with a similar stack size (say 40BB or .80), I have 78s in CO, I would fold as the effective stack size I could win would only be .80, as I would need to be able to win $1.20 to make that call (5% effective stack size rule for making spec calls).

So at the end it can hurt you in a way on how much you win and how much action you would get. Also, I would never leave a winning session just because you doubled up. The only stop you should have is a stop loss, say 3 buy ins. Never restrict how much money you could make at a good table.

I prefer not to do this. Because before entering the game, I set rules for myself and say that I only have two chances to do Buy-in. This causes me not to have an automatic reload and to continue the game with the same money I received.
