Well I myself haven't got the money to just begin a bankroll sad to say. But when I do it seems to me it would be best to build it from cash games, simply because the blinds never change, and you can afford to wait on some cards. As apposed to the tournament where sometimes you are forced to act on what you get sometimes, because the blinds get so high. But which is the best to start playing, just .02/.04? That's what I would think ,but there is a lot to it now isn't there?

Well if you have a $50 bankroll you aren't going to play 50nl, you would start off at the very bottom. I would recommend 2nl and try to improve your game as much as possible as well as moving up the stakes as you risk the least at the lowest stake and it is by far the easiest.

Also if you get really good at cash games, you can usually do well in tournaments but not the other way around, especially if you play 6 max cash games, so I would recommend doing cash games first, trying full ring/6 max to see which ones you like best.

Then stick to this. Why you would try and build a BR in a game that is your worse?

I am destroying tournaments lately so have focused on them.

Sadly, had crap cards on Cool Million and Double Deuce... sucks :( but I plan to keep trying, this can't last forever :D

I too have faired way better in the tournaments and especially SnG's but ever since in tried cash I cant keep away...I really enjoy the fast pace and also there are very few PLO or PLO8 tourneys and I love those games...if you wanna improve your cash game just keep reading the posts that these members leave...this site has some extremely knowledgable poker players who are generous with their advise...gl

It depends on what you prefer and what your success with it really. Me personally I have more success in cash games for some reason I think because of the fast pace game I think. Because in tournament you really need patience and you need to pick your spots. Anyways, you should always start with the lowest and move up once you get use to it and or have success with the lowest.

Cash game require more patience than tornaments , in cash games you can win two pots an hour and show a decent profit , wheres in tornaments you cannot be as selective as the pressure intensifies with blinds going up , for this reason tornaments are usually played at a faster pace as waiting for premium hands is not an option when blinds are high.

IMO cash is more reliabliable in building a bankroll because there is less variance , playing cash you can steadly increase your roll bit by bit, wheres in tornaments you can not cash 50 tornaments in a row .

Try telling that to Phil Ivey :D, Cashed in every WPT he entered and made it to the final table each time! You would think that he would get sucked out on once out of those 7 lol.

tournaments allow you a chance at more money with smaller investments than cash games do. Cash games are a grind and really you can't hope to make as much as you can in a tournament in the same time. 2nl for five hours won't yield as much and a tournament for 2 dollars with 500 guaranteed.

My guess is that tournaments are more beneficial than playing cash games, on money you can lose all on one hand, tournaments are safer

OP is talking about online games, you honestly won't get far winning 2 pots an hour, especially not 6handed, but yea, you have a lot more room than in mtt's.

really i should have been more specific , you only need two big pots an hour and maybe a couple little ones here and there, to be a winner . what im getting at is you can afford to wait for those big pots by being selective.
