What do you do when you are playing live game and you are card dead? Do you need to start 3 bet light? Do you swap tables?

What if you swap tables and you are just playing small pots? You miss all the time, AK, KQ, 66,77.

My casino does not allow phones and ear phones on the table.

Playing 2-3 at star city, Sydney

I normally will call it a day after 3 hours of continuous bad cards. For me after that I'm getting very impatient and frustrated. and don't want to let those feelings cost me more money.

I like to remember there's always another day (chance) if i don't lose my whole bankroll. And minimizing your losses is a huge part of poker, that sometimes is just as big as making a profit

If you live close enough to leave for sure go if you find getting frustrated or bored. Otherwise take a break, play some blackjack or take a walk. I like to try to sharpen my hand reading skills and reading physical tells. Gives your more time to work on those.

Talk with the rest of the guys at the table.

You want to create a fun & jovial atmosphere when you play, because it makes the fish loose with their money, and it's more fun than hiding in your hoodie and shades for 6 hours straight.

I recently started playing live and this is SPOT on. Sure some regs will chat you up looking for info/tells/skill level but still it creates a friendly environment. By my second visit I felt comfortable in the setting, chatting with players and you quickly see whose a fish and whose a semi decent player without sitting there staring down players in silence for hours.

Honestly i had so much fun after the first session jitters where I was lost, confused, and got stacked, not only did I feel relaxed and confident in my play and my reads, it felt like I was in Rounders or something (the good parts where they're all laughing and chatting around the table in the Taj) and can't wait to go back. Also didn't hurt that I left session 2 with just under $900 and session 3 with a little under $500 only using a single $200 BI each time.. But I'd imagine having some fun, chatting, loosening everyone up helped those sessions be profitable.

If you're REALLY bored and no one is chatting you up, take a break, grab a drink, come back, keep playing your style but carefully watch players as they play to get info. I ended up playing some props with 2 friendly players for a few orbits when it got boring, dealer just told us to keep it on the DL.

TL;DR: Just talk with the the table and get them chatting.

It doesn't always matter what cards are hitting or not hitting. You need to be creative at this point and look around at what you can exploit and who you can convince you have a good hand and is likely to fold if your bluff, semi bluff is beleivable. Its not just about the cards it is also about reading people and being able to put them on a paticular hand and what it may require to get them off of it.

It is true if you do not get good hands or paste do not believe he has the best hand does not always have the best hand wins evalue the table it's hard but try to see their opponents almost always make the same mistake

Accept that it's gonna happen. There are only 1,326 possible Hold 'Em hands, and I've had sessions -- live and on-line -- where I think I've seen every shitty combination. I've seen the entire table run card dead.

You have to keep throwing in the garbage hands. You get a ( Q,T-o ) UTG and it's the best hand you've seen in the last two hours, doesn't matter: it's still a big RIO hand OOP. Muck it or try to steal the blinds.

The only thing you can do is to try to tale advantage of your "nittty" image (they don't know you're running card dead) and steal a few blinds, assuming they're paying enough attention to know you haven't played a single hand in the last four or five orbits.

It's also much better to run card dead than it is to get those good hands only to be coolered by fish hitting one and two outters on the river. That can also happen, and sometimes over multiple sessions.

"Otherwise take a break, play some blackjack or take a walk"

Agree with the take a walk part, but why risk your 'roll in a -EV game? Besides, if I'm card dead at Poker, I'm just as card dead at BJ, but in the latter game, you can't fold the trash and save a bet.

I'm not live player but I think that important is how confident You feel playing.
Confident player can turn bad cards to winning hand and pocket AA can lead to disaster. Depends how it is played.
If you dont get playable cards for hours then maybe your opponents are just too good.

There are some things that I consider when I'm card dead to make a weak hand a winner. I look at my table position, my confidence in my game, stack/chip count and my opponent's behavior. Out of these things I focus more on how my opponent's behave since that is where I normally look at when making plays.

I had this happen to me yesterday. It's frustrating a you just have to play through it and accept it won't last forever. Unfortunately, I don't listen to my own advice and ended up losing more than I should have.

You do NOT HAVE TO PLAY THRU IT!

Frustration, impatience, lack of enthusiasm. If you play with this mindset you will lose.

Go home, and if you think you have to play thru it, play play money games till your eyes bleed.

One of the drawbacks to playing live...

If you can, don't vary your strategy (or seat). It's just as likely all of a sudden you get slammed by the deck.

Card dead preflop? How narrow is your range?

I've never been card dead preflop for more than maybe a couple hours.

If you mean post flop, ya, that sucks, but there's really nothing you can do about it. If it's affecting your mental state, I'd suggest quitting for the day, but that's about it..
Try to set a time limit each session so that no matter what happens, you never stay late or leave early regardless of the cards.

If you can't switch seats then take a break. Starting to play outside your comfort zone with a frustrated mental state is only going to hurt your BR imo. It is also possible that you are missing some opportunities. Are you playing way too tight? Suited connectors and one-gappers can be great hands in position or if you can get in cheap in the blinds. If nothing works, leave for the day and go do something to clear your mind.

Take a break, go for a walk and return to another table. That works especially for when you're at a table with loose players as they are harder to bluff against

I usually make 2 buyins and if luck is not on my side then I stop playing and start playing only the next day or a few days. Another option to try to change casinos, very much depends on the place where you play and from the dealer who gives you the cards. It happens with one dealer you are constantly losing, and as soon as another dealer comes you immediately start winning. I had a case, I was given a bad card all evening, and only I changed the place at the table, AA came at once two times in a row

It happens and such, but the main thing is not to get upset and believe in victory
