I don't think you would have gotten him off of his flush draw on the flop. JJ is a tricky hand. If it were me, and I may make the wrong play, I would make the raise a litlle higher or shove pre. If this is wrong play someone please let me know because sometimes I don't know how to lay em down.

I said i knew it was a bad call but i wanted to see what he had so it could help me later in this kinda spots,
The question is - "How do you think this will help you in the future?"

On the flop there is $3.10 in the pot. Villain goes $2.00 making it 5.10. You come over the top and add $5.25 making the pot $10.35.
Now listen up - In order to chase his flush the Villain needs 2-1 pot odds so that means he can go as high as $5.20 (rounded up) to make his call mathematically correct. But with what you did the Villain only needs to call $3.25 - that gives him over 3-1 pot odds. He is absolutely fist pumping correct to call you for a flush chase. I am super conservative about chasing my draws but I could not have turned this down.
Now I am not saying shove your stack - that's stupid - but don't give the guy great odds to call JJ with a flush draw AND a straight draw on the board.

And when an over card to your pair completes the flush on the turn and the Villain bets - don't come over the top with a shove - that is not the way to get information.

yeah, yeah, yeah, I know - you already said "I said i knew it was a bad call but i wanted to see what he had..." but you also said, "Well how is the best way to play this hand though ? I felt like shoving on the flop or some thing like that, but what do you guys think ?"

It's one thing to call a 1/3 pot value bet on the river to see what the other guy has but this is a whole different thing.

I think you might be kidding yourself. That was a RIDICULOUSLY HUGE price to pay for information. What information were you looking for and how are you expecting that information to turn into a profit (let alone get your money back)?

You didn't make a bad call, you made a bad shove.

^^ I'm with last 2 posts... They summed up everything just right... I've had hands where I just HAD to know, but i'm not sure this would have been one the them. I would put them on the draw if not by the flop then def on the turn by the betting/responses alone.

That appears to me to be a very expensive way to see what a villain was playing. The turn completes the flush draw, gives an overcard to your PP and theres straight draw potential as well. If you suspect he is chasing his flush draw, why oh why, when it completes do you shove? For information?
Well, if thats how you wish to buy your information, who am I to say thats wrong? I will say it looks to me to be a very stupid way to play poker. More money than sense springs to mind.

there was no way you were getting him off that flush draw since he was the aggressor, you could have shoved all-in on flop he might have folded, but in the end the outcome would have been the same.
