Call = Strength?

Say you have a decent PP (99-JJ) in early position (HU NL), and the flop brings a rainbow overcard/rags. Not terribly scary, so I usually lead with a bet. Now let's say the turn brings another rag. I lead with another bet, and again after the river. Sometimes my hand holds, and sometimes my opponent is holding top pair.

How do you judge the strength of your opponent in these kinds of situations (particularly when multi-tabling with no real read on your opponent's style)? I usually figure they are on an Ax draw, middle/low pair, or top pair low kicker (this is PS micro). If my read is correct, I guess I win 2 out of 3.

These are nice flops to play since you can completely eliminate flush draws and usually straight draws if the flop is something like Q 7 2. If you bet preflop with JJ and they just called and a Q 7 2 flopped, I'd put him on 99 or 88 or QJ, Q10, or Ace 7. AQ or KQ would probably raise. I think your strategy is fine, but if they call on the flop and turn, then you should just check on the river.

Heh, I meant my PF bet from early position yielded only one caller. So after the flop I was early position HU.
