I am thinking to manage variance it's a good idea to have 200 buy-ins at the stake I am playing. Is that overly conservative?

I used to play online cash with a significant portion of my funds available at any time. However as history has proven you are going to mess up or get beat eventually.

If I wanted to be super conservative what is a reasonable number?

* I also plan on playing upto 8 tables at once so that is another factor I am letting take part in my idea for 200 buy-ins.

In my opinion your idea sounds very good. From dispersion can not escape anywhere, it is at all.

200 buy-ins is fine but a lot of pros go up to 300 buy-ins because variance gets really high at times when your on a really bad down swing which even pros have so you may want the 300 buy in bankroll for MTT's just my two cents.

Doyle Brunson said in his book Super Systems 2 that he recommends 100 buy-ins. I've always used this as a rule myself. 200 buy-ins is extremely conservative, but you should make up your own mind. You should not feel any pressure to play higher just because your bankroll allows you to.
