I attempted to locate another thread with this info but was unsuccessful, apologies if this has previously been addressed.

I've run into this a couple of times & haven't yet made a decision about the most optimal approach. Everyone folds around to the button who wakes up with a premium hand (A.A. or K.K or Q.Q). Haven't decided if it's best to limp for action (& be up against could-be-anything cards & hope the dealer likes me best ) or raise (& end up with only the blinds)? Has anyone experienced this, what was the strategy & why? Thanx!

It depends as always
At a new table I would just raise 3x and make it look like a standard steal attempt. Thy reraise if you get raised.

As doyle says and I must agree, "you can win a small stack with AA or loose a huge one"....or something like that, the point is that I prefer to steal the blinds instead limp and got cought by 7-2. so you must make a decent raise. I'm not just saying 7-2 because I was a big blind with 7-2 and 2 players limped in and I saw the flop. flop: 7-7-2, I just checked to see what will happend and the first guy behind me raised and the other one re-raised ,so the only thing I had to do is just call until they made me go all-in, one of the guys had QQ and the other AA, so I made a decent stack with that hand.

I'd go with the standard stealing raise (3xBB - later when the blinds get bigger 2.5x BB) to keep your hand concealed - if you only take the blinds so be it.

Unless your ss and looking desperate anyway.

From wat i have seen, 4xBB raise works very much better than 3Xbb OR 2.5XBB...
I have tried all these three raises and 4XBB has given me success almost 90%, cause it even puts a question among some of the best players...
And if anyone reraises you, i ask you to fold everything else except AA,KK,QQ,AK with which u reraise only by going allin....

Thx everyone...will go with the std 'stealing' raise to conceal hand...have been limping to get action & then BB or SB would end up with 2 pair (I apparently forgot to tip the dealer ) so I guess just getting the blinds wouldn't be so bad (based on what I've experienced so far).

I love getting big hands on the button because I usually play with a huge steal percentage. The hand is perfectly disguised.

That been said, I really don't like playing AA KK QQ post flop in cash games when I have 100bb stack. I will usually give it up pretty easily once the flop is dealt.
