I have managed to get a bankroll up to 60 dollars currently grinding out 2nl. I have experimented with all table amounts from 1 to 24 and I have not managed to find a good average table. I tried tile and stack. I have settled for 4 tables tiled on my 22inch monitor. Even though I lost 6 BI's in todays session, I know I played really well, so I think I'm going to stick with 4.

Please help me with any advice you can think of to help me get up to 5nl. I was showing profit at 2nl but I just CANNOT get past 67 dollars. I have PT3 I plugged a shit load of leeks, I watched 101training video strategy on another website. But please tell me that my loss is because of a terrible downswing. I have attached my PT3 graph and I believe it shows that I am running 6 BI's below my expected value. If I just stick at it, and the bad beats stop, surely I will have enough to move up to 5nl?

I will treat this as my blog, and if people are willing to help me, I will post certain hands and maybe there is room for improvement. However, I don't think I could do much better than shoving AA preflop against 1 opponent and being called. (Lost 3 times today AI preflop with AA)

So long story short, judging from the graph, I am just having a downswing right? I mean I sure hope there is no way I could be playing a losing game at 2nl with TAG ABC poker? Bet when you have something, only Cbet the right flops and against players with the correct fold to cbet stats and all that bollocks.

Does my graph look like im at least playing a winning game?I definitely don't think im a good player yet, but I would have hoped that I could beat 2nl. Please bring on the criticism as and when I say stupid stuff as long as it is constructive it's all good.

PS Graph looks a bit small after posting. The number of hands is 16.5k over the space of 3 days :p I'm just a tad unemployed atm with nothing to do all day. I've been playing at stars for 2 years now on and off, but I was playing WAY out side my bankroll and was either cashing my winnings or going broke. I recently decided to do it the PROPER way and used a small deposit to grind up the stakes with. The graph only shows the last 3 days because that is when I bought PT3. The hands I won to actually grind up to $67 are not logged on the graph.

New guy here learning myself so take this for what it is worth. Looking at your stats I believe that your going to hear from a lot of the regs to loosen up a little in later positions...HJ, CO, and BTN. I have loosened up in those positions (suggestion from the regs here) and I believe that is one of the reasons my winrate has increased some.

Also, one of the members here is Blackrain79 who has historically absolutely crushed the micros. He is one of the the reps from the site Drag the Bar and posts here quite often. He also has a blog at www.blackrain79.com (mods delete this link if it is against the TOS - if link is deleted all you have to do is google his name and his blog will pop up). I have been reading his blog and watching some of his videos lately and one of the strategies he employs is abusing the open limps from the fish and trying to isolate them so your heads up in position on the flop.

Good luck and watch for posts from the regs about positional stats. They will definitively be able to help you more in that area than I will

You may well be experiencing a downswing, see how the next 10-15K hands go and try your best not to tilt (at all). You are not a complete beginner, you ground up to $67 before, and you are not losing atm, so stick with it and you should see profit soon.

You only just got PT3 and it takes a while to 1) Get reasonable numbers of hands on villains so you know what type of player you are dealing with and 2) learn how to use the HUD properly ie. which are the important stats and how to use stat values to assign some kind of range for your villain.

It's good that you settled on playing less tables, it will really help you improve. But as it's full-ring (and you are nitty) you can probably add a couple more. As long as you can track properly whats going on and concentrate on important hands then 2 more should be fine.

What kind of BR do you want before moving to 5NL?

GL!

Thanks a lot guys, the general consensus seems to be I am playing too tight. Others have told me this too. I am going to try and loosen up in middle and late position raising some of the higher pocket pairs. I have read everything in this topic and even the links that were posted. I think however JOEBOE im going to lossen up a bit I don't like the idea of playing as nitty as FX was in his early days :p something along the lines of 10/9 maybe. Instead of 9/5 lol.

Many thanks for the advice, I assure you I have taken it on board, I'm not one of those people who posts and then doesn't listen because I think I'm "too good" or w/e. I am going to start my session now and I'll post the results here.

I dunno if this is gonna help or hurt your game, but I advocate running a few more tables if you think you have an edge at 2nl, and are capable of playing that many tables.

If you get more hands in then you have more stats to analyse yourself more thoroughly.

Stacking over tiling IMO because it stops you being results oriented.

and open up a bit more in position, nothing much more to say!

hope that was helpful.

I think I've found my best at 6 tiles, my screen is big enough and I like to watch what is going on because the players are so trickey to work out at 2nl, you really never know what they have unless you rewatch every single hand they play. I have notes on everyone at the table and also use the colour coded labels. I have 8 of them. I tried pretty much every amount of tables stack and tile and I found 24 tables to be too much, 12 was good but I cant tile 12. So yeah, I just ran a session of 6 tables tiling and showed a profit. I took on the advice here and opened my range more especially in position, working out that because I opened more hands, I saw more flops and got a couple of monsters.

Paid for PokerTracker3 mate. It is SO worth it if you plan on playing a lot of poker and seriously. I don't think there are any good free ones. Most people use Holdem manager or PT3. I much prefer pt3 and I've tried both.
