Hello everyone,

I’ve been studying and playing live MTT’s, and now I’m very interested in giving live small stakes cash games a try. Hoping to see which form of holdem I want to play long term.

Looking for book recommendations on the modern live small stakes cash game. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance!

I haven't read any books from the last 5-6 years, but for a beginning to intermediate player that wants to take poker a little more seriously (Hold Em specifically), I highly recommend Phil Gordon's Little Green Book.

In my opinion, it's the best book related to TAG/standard/Keep-It-Simple-Stupid poker. Though it was written in like 2005, I don't think the basic strategy of winning poker has changed. Also, he is a good writer and makes it a very easy read.

It is not recommended for advanced or high stakes poker in which the field is very good.

I really appreciate your advice....thank you! A question I have is, is The Little Green Book geared more towards tournament play rather then cash?

I read some summaries and it seems like it’s more for tourney players?

It has a section dedicated to tournament poker, but I think that's because tournament strategy requires some considerations that aren't necessary in cash games. Basically, the insights within most of the book are by default applicable to cash games.
