Well, in another post, I posted about how I doubled up a 25 dollar bankroll on bodog within about 36 hours, I probably played 20 2 dollar beginner sit and goes. Pretty fun stuff actually.

Then yesterday rolled around. I went to the 4 dollar game. The first game I won. That was worth 12 bucks(they pay 5 places) 12 10 8 6 4.

Then I lost 3 in a row....Here is what happened in the first game, and similar things happened in the last 2.

Normally in these SnGs I play really tight for the first couple rounds. In the first game that I lost yesterday tho, I broke this rule.

Second hand dealt I get pocket Kings. I was in middle position and nobody called up to me. It was early I bet the pot, I THINK it was 50 at the time. Small blind calls.

Flop comes was 3 5 and some other small card. Small blind checks, I bet the pot, he comes back around and pushes all in. Hell, I have Pocket kings I call....cards turn over...guy has a 3 5!!! He'd bet the first hand, so i had 255 chips left.

VERY next hand I get pocket 10s, now of course I'm a little tilted...LOL I push all in, get called and lose to MORE crap.

I should have stopped there, but played another..and didn't tighten up in the early rounds..then played a 3rd, and my connection crapped out badly...

In the third game I was playing so tight some railbird started making comments about me folding. I wasn't getting ANY cards, I was down to about 800 chips blinds go to 100 there are 6 people left, I'm short stacked....my connection craps out...OMG Comes back for a second, I notice i autofolded in the big blind with AQ suited...LOL and everything went downhill from there.

Anyhow, if you're into just some fun games without alot of risk, bodog seems to be it, they have those 5 payout tourneys all the way up to 16 dollars.

yea, i noticed these as well, just got 3.50 in freeroll winnings at bodog and lost 1.30 at the ring games then i played a couple 2 dollar tourneys, got up to 8 dollars. Not much reward for playing, but I dont really play to make a ton of money, just for fun, and it is very easy to place in the tournaments.

Wonka,

Just a little advice. You shouldn't be betting looking at the pot size preflop. You should be baseing your bets/raises on the size of the blinds. For instance if the blinds are 25/50 and you bet the pot 75 it costs the small blind 50 to call a 150 pot. That's 3-1 odds and an easy call with almost anything. Your bet should have been more like 3-4 times the BB, in this case 150-200. This makes it harder for someone to call with 3-5 although you will still see some do it. The reason people call with hands like 3-5 is because if they hit they know they can get someone with a large pocket pairs entire stack. I do it myself depending on my read of my opponent, my position, how many people are in the pot, my chip size, and the cost to enter the pot. Don't think because someone played with "crap" is was a bad play, instead think about if you made any mistakes in the hand. Here I see 2. 1) You didn't raise enough pre-flop to make him pay to play speculative hands like that, and 2) You fell in love with your Kings and didn't think they could get beat. It's one pair and beatable no matter how pretty it looks.

The push with 10s was fine, it's what you are supposed to do with a med pocket pair and a low M. You want a caller, you just got unlucky, doesn't mean the play was bad.

One should play the low stakes to learn the game and have fun. I hope you do both. Congrates on the overall play though, don't worry about the losses they happen to everyone. Well I shouldn't say don't worry, worry if you aren't learning anything from them.

thanks for that reply..and yes...i should have pushed harder preflop with kings, but, there's a fine line between pushing hard and having nobody go in, then having the guy with AQ pushing back all in and flopping a queen set....I know tho, when that happens you just have to roll with it....I DO however understand the advice, I've still got ALOT to learn.

As long as you are learning, that's what matters. Remember the saying, it's better to win a small pot then lose a large pot. If you have kings you hope someone pushes, after all there is only one hand that is ahead of you. But with a small raise, so many hands can call that you have no idea where you stand after the flop. If you make a larger bet and an ace comes on the board and villan bets then you can probably get away from the hand. Etc. etc. Keep it up though.

i definatly agree with this post. the thing to remember is that your biggest competion should always be yourself and your number two be greed.
1) if your only competition is yourself then all you have to focus on is not making any mistakes. now that doesnt mean you wont lose even with the best hand preflop but it does mean you wont lose as much. remember a great player can laydown a great hand like qq kk or aa.
2)Never be greedy. if you raise the correct amount preflop and you dont get a caller be happy because you could have gotten sucked out on. but instead you raked in the blinds. better than a loss. now if you get called you have to take into account the size of the pot, the read you have on your opponent, your position, and of course the cards on the flop.
but most of all listen to your gut!!! dont over think every situtation

some of mt best pots have be won with small cards, the thing with big pairs is you get them so seldom and they look so good and this is your pot you are bound to win. rember if you fall in love with them your money will get jelouse and go stay with some one els.you must put in a big raise pre flop but if you get to many callers slow down post flop becouse some one like me will get your money.
