i know you can't be 100% sure someone's bluffing but i knew this guy and how he played from every all-in he kept getting lucky on....he went all-in on crap 3 times in a row and got rivered straights high pair and crap...

i was bb and he's in the 9th spot....and i know he's going all-in to buy my blind since i was second to him in chip size...

so call his all-in...he flips over QJo against my AKo only a queen comes out on the board....even two other ppl knew the way he was playing and called his stupid hand lol....he knocked 4 ppl out including me on this....was i wrong on calling this or should i play it safe in this situation and wait til next hand....

i personally like AK better than pocket Ace so i was hoping a lot of ppl would go in on this hand which they did....and i got screwed...was this a bad play...knowing that this guy plays almost anything all-in to get lucky?

i hate it when this happens and you feel like you don't know the game that well....i know i know it good...but it seems as if i always get the sh t end of the stick lol...

i can win almost all of the time at home and with friends...but internet pisses me off sometimes...

had to vent off that dumb crap...thanks for listening lol

peace

playing on the internet and in live games is different then your usual home game. In a home game you can get players to respect your plays and might be intimidated by your raises but online people have no idea who you are so they are going to make calls and some people are just idiots. I genarally wait for most of the idiots to weed them selves out of the tourney but if you were first to act after the guy moved all-in I would say you made the right move and just obviously caught some bad luck. but if you are one of that persons to call I would say its wrong to call with out a high pair. I might even to be inclined to lay down queens just for the fact you are probally not going to finish with the best hand.

i would have to say i would have called. AK is a pretty good hand. it just sucks when our opponent flips over pocket aces.

crazy or what??

can't believe these ppl on here...

i have KJ suited and did a nice size raise...due to not having a decent hand for like 20 hands...and tried getting one friggin pot...guy before me had checked...next couple ppl check and 2 spots before me a guy goes all-in with shortstack...guy that checked in spot right before me calls the all in...i do as well..

we flip cards and me and the guy who started the all in have K J and other guy had 2 4 o...

flop came Khearts/Ahearts/10clubs turn 5hearts/7hearts....me and the other guy holding KJ both didn't have a heart so the guy that called the all-ins had nothing before the flop...no draws until the turn came a heart and he gets rivered the heart????!!!!!! what are these ppl thinking??

he was in middle lead with chips and could've saved himself a better play but got the luckiest draw ever...having nothing...gets lucky with heart draw and beats to overcards against two players holding em with high pair...i couldn't believe it!!!

does this sound crazy to anyone else?

yea, little crazy, especially if someone goes all in before him. however, if alot of higher cards had been popping up, he might of thought there would be some low cards on the flop, or he just wanted to take a chance with a not so good hand.

Play smart! When you are in good chip position but your opponent has you covered don't gamble. If he is playing reckless wait in the grass like a sniper and wait for the perfect moment to strike. Big slick is a power hand but remember it still needs help to win against ANY pair! Be smart especially against players who are on a rush where everthing, no matter their starting hand, is falling. Greg Raymer type tournament players can be beat by superior play just be smart about it.

I to have played with players like that who go all in and get lucky all the time. Yes, it pisses me off to. I total disagree with what you said about takin Ace King suited over pocket Aces. If thry keep goin all in bluffin then wait to you have a very hand to catch them with there hand in the cookie jar.:D

When you're a big stack, don't go to war with another big stack because there's always that possibility that he'll bust you. Attack the shorter stacks. If you have people like that playing on your table just sit out and let someone else take him out.

I fnd playing at home a lot better with my friends. I can read them and bluff when I have to and fold when i know they have something because of their facial expressions. Online people are crazy and you cant get a read on what they have.:congrats:

If you are allin preflop and have the best hand preflop...You are doing the right thing regardless of the outcome. Keep track of your allins and if you had the best hand when you pushed all your chips in. If you have best hand 90% of the time. You are playing good poker.

If you find your hands to usualy not be the best hand preflop than you need to take some time and read a book or two.

You just have to realize whats at stake.. a preflop all in when so much is at stake is tough, knowing the guy the way you did it makes it worse because you know hes semi bluffing ... but even with AK youre a coin toss against pocket 2's, i say when you have a big stack like that wait till after the flop and let him bluff at you then

Believe it or not I notice more times than not if I have AK and all in it, I usually get beat by KQ more than any other hand, So I'm begining to believe it is actually a better all in hand, of course I've only been playing a year and could be totally wrong? lol:confused:

when playing against an all in fellow just play ur game and if ud have gone in with ak then do so. usually people get intimidated and that is where he /she gets more bolder and wins the blinds.

Usually i consider these fellows as chip banks wait until u get a monster hand and take him up, so what if u lose. its poker and its gambling. just reduce the odds.

Right move

You made the right move, the guy got a lucky catch but it is gambling......
That is one reason why I try not to go all-in before the flop, I think it is a weak way of playing, leaving too much to chance, see the flop then play the percentages.

I think it is very hard to bluff AK no matter what cards come up

I have gotten burned just about every time I go all-in preflop with AK in freerolls. Don't think that I would do it in a money game or tourney...
