Hi,

I've been playing enough 6-max 2 and 5NL Zoom over the past year to convince that I can try to move up in stakes, I played a couple thousand hands so far at Zoom 10NL and that doesn't seem that much more aggressive, might be wrong, sample size is small. I prefer to play Zoom at the moment, I seem to have better focus on two tables of Zoom than even 4 regular tables.

At 2NL and 5NL, I basically play tight and while I tried to bluff catch over and over again, I realized that it's almost always value betting on the river and with so little bluffs that it often isn't worth trying to bluff catch against unknowns and bad players.

I'm wondering if things change a bit at 10NL Zoom on pokerstars? Is it more balanced in your opinion? Thx!

It's more balanced but still not even close to be balanced. So keep folding like you did in 5NL.

The thing is though that light value betting is more common than in 5NL, so calling river is complicated time to time. Do you value call or bluff call?

I play Zoom for fun once in awhile, but i would`t invest too much time in it.I can imagine sitting at a `real` table and going absolutely bonkers at the pace, and wanting to `change` my cards quickly.I can see it only hurting my game. But if you only play for fun,go for it!:)

We can develop with this type of bad habits and bad habits, the tendency to play with many good hands that constantly comes in the modality, can harm us if you change to play in a regular tournament or SIT & GO, because in this type of tournament we are not always going out With good hands to play in PreFlop.

Yeah, that's not really a problem for me, I play sit n go too and I am playing tighter than my 6-max zoom obviously, it's a game a patience, I don't mind folding. I just don't play zoom and sit n go's simultaneously, I play better this way.

Regarding Zoom, I watched a Ryan Fee video recently where he was recommending Zoom to improve your game and move up and that when you beat Zoom 100 or 500 you can switch to regular tables and will usually find them softer. Not sure all the pros would think this way though..

Interesting thread, thanks.

Do you think that the bad habits learnt in zoom games outweigh the benefits for a beginner with a small bankroll? I'm currently playing low stakes zoom as a way to get in as many hands as possible and gain experience, but am worried that it might harm my play in future.

Oh man i've been playing zoom for awhile now and almost always i've lost at it. Almost everytime i decide to get into a hand there is always someone unxpected like 5s6s 2d3d Ah2h or some other suited connectors hand which should have been gone the moment i tri bet preflop with AK suited.

I didn't see bluffs at Zoom so don't know what you can catch.
and with so little bluffs that it often isn't worth trying to bluff catch against unknowns and bad players.
Wait. You know it already!

What zoom does is trying to force you to play game optimally against player pool average. I would only recommend playing zoom after you clear NL10 regular. The reason is not harming your play, but exploitable play is best learn in regular tables and that means that even you make more plays in zoom, it’s still not that fast to develop your skill. Maybe zoom with regular table?, one or two steps down in zoom and also with a mission (school lesson) your try to learn by repetition.

The reason I don't do how I preach is my addiction to game flow in zoom, regular tables are so annoyingly slow and take so much effort because there is so much information to be had in low limits, where everyone is noob that I burn too fast. Multi tabling regular is also annoying for me because after two tables, or even one, you start to see how you miss good plays or do not read every hint there is, do not use optimal bet size because you forgot what your sizing was 2 hands ago and so on.

If you play against me in 10nl zoom you’ll catch all my river bluffs. I find they can be super profitable if you pick the right lines to take. Especially in 3bet pots where the river bet/raise is an all in.

The microstakes players do not bluff much. But the question is not picking up the bluffs of them, and yes, they bluff, this is much more lucrative. Bluff on the river, or after a scary card, are two very profitable situations, IMO.
