Hey guys. So basically, I have found a big leak in my 25nl game. When I raise pf and am called, or 3-bet and am called (or vice versa), and I hold JJ+:

The board comes something like 8h4hTd I cbet, get called.

Turn is something like a 2c, something not really relevant. I fire barrel 2, and get raised. Whenever a hand plays out similarly to this, where I have an overpair, I always have a hard time deciding whether villain has TPTK or a flopped set. Does anyone have some tips in noticing nuances that can help me decide whether it's a set or tptk? And therefore, whether to fold or raise the turn?

It will be a set or overpair much more often than it will be TPTK after the call pre-flop and the high card on the flop is T or lower.

AT, JT will only maybe call pre-flop. PP's will set mine a lot, more than they should even vs 3bets. Big pockets will flat for various reasons (some good, most bad).

If you're the guy who called, it will be TPTK type hands more often.

i dont play over pairs as aggressivly as most people, I play it like top pair bet 80 % of the pot, and try to check down to the river if they call....(against players i have know past knowledge of how they play) The good thing about this is you will get away from 2 pairs sets and over pairs...then again if they had qq kk or aa they most likely wouldve reraised you preflop, but some people like to see the flop with qq and kk to make sure an A doesnt hit....the bad thing is that you will not stack up against top pair top kicker hands( i dont stack up with over pairs i wait for sets straights flushes and houses to stack up) over pair and two pair i just try to win small to mediam size pots.. it works for me at .25 .50 but that might not be the best way to play

but yeah i feel the same way as poker kid... most peopel set mind at the cash tabke its rare that ur going to be agaisnt an a10 in that situation maybe if its suited, but even still they arent looking for a big pot unless they have top pair and flush draw....most likely if you get reraised there ur against a better hand

It's unlikely that you hold the best hand when this happens. You are beat at least 80% of the time with JJ in that spot. It's another story with AA or KK because your opponent could be raising with JJ or QQ ...

overvaluing PPs is a leak 99% of the poker population has.

Good to know I'm not alone! Thanks for the posts guys. I've been running bad lately, but today I ran great in a sesh and applied some of your knowledge:

Rush poker is a sick game... A lot of the aggression you see on there (especially in the scenario with JJ seen here) is simply a bluff with air or a couple of big overcards. You see guys firing 2 or 3 barrels hoping you are bluffing because of the uneventful board. They fire right back at you. In a regular cash game, I would be a bit more concerned with their holding, but in rush... I think your jacks are good here a majority of the time. This opponent was likely quick folding and waiting for a big hand. He may have AK or AQ. If he does have you beat, he was probably set mining with a small pocket pair and the board hit him in the face! RUSH IS
A SICK GAME!!
