i always thought you were suppose to bet very aggressively on flops in Omaha if youve flopped the nuts. But when there are 4 or five players going to the flop, the odds of 1 of them having a good draw are very likely in which they will call your big pot size bet. Whether theres 2 cards of the same suit, running cards leaving several straight opportunities or its a rainbow with no straight possibilities Im gonna continue to make pot size bets when I know Im holding the best hand. If I get called and its another suited card, leaving 3 on the board or 3-4 cards to a strt, then im gonna have to learn to slow down my betting b/c I have lost most of money betting big after flopping the nuts and getting called all the way down and losing on the river. If there was some way to see the percentages of hands where im leading either going into the flop or after, and getting busted on the river. It would have to be @ least 75%.

in omaha, set over set is a usual occurance. unless you have the absolute nuts, tight is right!

If you're referring to flopping the nut set, it definitely cannot be 75% loss in the long run. You have a 30% chance of hitting a full house or quads by the river, which is pretty much bulletproof. Also, you can often make a good decision to value bet or bail on the turn so that the draws don't get to see a free river. That's the tricky part. Knowing when to slow down. You may not win a majority of the time you flop the nuts in a loose game, however, you can control how much you win versus how much you lose.

if its 4 to 5 people in the pot and your in position betting pot is fine, but oop, if you have someone that calls marginal draws and floats alot of flops to bet made draws you should try to check raise. OOP I like to checkraise most of my sets. Sometimes If I know the player is aggy with a set I will check call the flop, check raise the turn.

See the thing with omaha, just because you have the set doesn't mean you have to play your hand like you have a set. sometimes when you have a set it might just be better to bet on the scare card than to just bet pot when its safe. And betting pot oop ain't always good if you don't know how to fold, because people will call you with the broadest ranges of hands. There only going to raise you when they really think they got you beat when you bet pot (unless you bet pot everytime you bet). In your case another thing you should do is maybe don't bet pot when you have the set, bet a weaker bet hoping to get reraised.

Don't be afraid to check the top sets oop flop and turn either. I vividly remember a time I was oop with top set of kks, weak board I checked it around thinking an aggy person would bet he didnt on the flop. I checked it back around again on the turn. Why? because if I bet pot I'll probably get called by any draws but if the draws hit I won't know whether to bet and I'm most likely only going to get called by made draws on the river. So I figure I like to get people committed more than they want to draw because someone with a draw is probably going to bet the turn.

just so happened in that particular hand checking the turn allowed me to check raise someone who came back over top of me because they hit a set on the turn that was lower... The point of this is IMO, the only true way you have pot control in omaha OOP is checkraising UNLESS the pot is raised up a sizeable amount preflop to where you can bet people off of hands, Just betting pot you won't necessarily be able to bet people off of their draws. But when you check raise with a set you create a bigger pot so you can bet more on upcoming streets

If your already using the check raise allot than you gotta understand like vikings said when its time to slow down. IMO If the pots not raised and its an obviously flush and straight draw with not too many people in the pot and you decide to bet the flop, if all of them come along pending how they play if you know you cant call certain bets, you might wanna slow down on the turn even if the draw doesn't come. Hope they bet so you can check raise the turn and if they don't the pot is cheaper so you can check call the river if you feel your hand is good. With a lot of people I think you should always go for the check raise if an aggy player is on the button or in position.

Another thing to remember, you don't always have to check raise pot max. say if its a flush and straight draw, sometimes its better to like 3 or 4 bet when you check raise. When you check raise pot max more often than not people are going to put you on firstly a set or 2 pair, secondly a strong draw, and when your oop when the turn comes if you don't bet it the person in position is gonna automatically put you on having the 2 pair or the set and try to lean on you on that scare card. When you check raise 2-4 bet, your range is a lot wider to the villain, he could put you on a draw or a set or 2 pair, especially if you've been only known to check raise pot max for a set. This also allows you to bet on the next street on the scare card, because now the villain is probably gonna be alot more weary of you hitting a draw also and may fold to a reasonable bet on the turn (that doesnt mean you can bet the turn on every scare card you have to know when its right). Plus it help keeps the pot down if you want to call, I find this tactic works good in deepstack play oop.

One thing you wanna focus on whne you check raise, before you just check raise pot max, raise the bar to the pot max sign so you can see how much of your stack you are committing, if its enough to push someone off of a hand/show your opponent your committed to the pot, thats the perfect time to do it. If its not enough to get someone off you might just wanna do a small reraise especially if your deep stack, because if you raise too much deep stack on a double draw board you gotta ask yourself can you call a huge turn bet if either scare card comes if you decide to check and your opponent is mostlikely only going to come over top of you. Plus it makes it easier to get away on the turn in deep stack play if you feel you really need to when you make a smaller reraise if you can't commit yourself to the pot.

Its so easy to get bluffed off of hands in omaha if your a good player, thats why I think the key of the game is trapping people/getting them committed when you know you have the best hand, because you'll find your toughest situations are gonna be situations when your not committed and you have to make a call most likely because your oop.

I've never heard of a set in omaha being described as the nuts. They're good but not that good.

A set of what? It matters a lot.

Sets get out-setted all the time in Omaha...

I used to hate Omaha, now I love it. especially if it´s the hi/l8 type.
But I have one question:
should you always raise high pre flop when being dealt A-2-3-4?

I'll bet a set after the flop in Omaha but not very aggressively, because I have learned from experience that you will get calls all day long, more so than in holdem LOL

Of course you can not slow lay anything in omaha, even if u flopped the nuts there are probably redraws + youll get more value if the guys doesnt hit one of his 17 draws:)
