lets say im in last pos. in limit holdem, and i have 2 spades and the flop is two spades, there is also 2 over cards that floped, but they checked the bets to me should i bet on hopes to build the pot?or check for the river?because if i wait and hit on the river then bet i make no money because they read that and fold.how could you build the pot in case u hit your flush?

How many people in the pot? What are the blinds? What stacks do people have? It would be helpful to know this in such a situation.

If the blinds/bets are large, and the flop is checked to you, bet. Be prepared to fold to a reraise.

Depending on the situation. I may check if im drawing to the nut flush if they're giving me good odds i wont spoil it by betting particularly if there are no scare cards on the board.

If the pots big enough i may look to take it down (depending on players in the pot) but then again if its a low flop on a low stakes table i would be wary of betting because of fish.

I don't think some of the previous postes read the scenerio carfully enough. IT'S LIMIT. Strategy is very different in limit. For instance in limit holdem you need to build a pot, you can't get it all in at the end like in no-limit. You can argue both for checking and betting here, personally I would bet in order to start building a pot in case i did hit, plus you may be able to take it down here or on the turn if nobody hits their hand and you bet again.

One poster said to be prepared to fold to a reraise. Absolutly not. You would be getting at least 6-1 (probably more) to call the reraise and it's certainly less than that to hit the flush so you would be making a mistake to fold to a reraise.
