About a month ago I decided to start gridning some poker again after a long break, due to losing a big portion of my BR when shooting at 10nl.

I am pretty much crushing zoom 2nl now with a winrate of 16bb/100 over a decent sample. Beating 5nl zoom aswell with around a 6-7bb/100.

Decided to shoot at 10nl again cause I was rolled for it. Went pretty ok, til i lost a huge pot with full boat vs better full boat. After that beat I am no longer rolled for 10nl (25BI is my limit) and here I am again.

Do I just keep taking shots til I finally beat it at a decent rate or should I try a different approach?

I believe this was the same when taking a stab at 5nl, was jumping up and down a bit til i finally beat it.

Also, any tips on good poker coaching/informative videos rather than articles to improve my game? Realized I do much better decisions if I watch some sort of coaching video while playing.

you said you was rolled for 10nl and lost one big pot.
Surely thats only 1BI, losing 1 buiyin and suddenly you arent rolled for 10nl???

Naaah wasn't 1 BI, 400bb deep like last hand of my session(probably should have rejoined with just 100bb, but too late for that)

soo $260ish -$40 = 220$ which means i have to grind $30 before rolled for 10nl again.

Agreed. I'm confused? You could only lose more than one BI if you were up multiple BIs to start with meaning no matter the size of the pot you've only gone down to 24BIs right? If this is the case, there is no reason to stop playing at the same limit unless you feel uncomfortable doing so. If however you were to drop 10BIs with no sign of improvement then I'd definitely consider lowering the stakes and continuing to play. Don't give up after losing 1BI!

The only way you'll improve is to keep playing - experience trumps everything. Definitely post hands you're unsure of here and search the net for all the free help you can get. I'm sure other members here will have plenty of information for you also.

"Decided to shoot at ..."

"...taking shots..."

"...taking a stab..."

"Zoom poker"

Okay, sounds like you like to play blackjack too. You are just gambling. Probably playing for the rush. Settle in on a game and work it for a few months - that's why it's called grinding. My serious heartfelt suggestion is scrap everything you think you know, commit to a bankroll appropriate game until Easter and get serious. This will help your overall game tremendously.

You are going to also have to get way more than casual about studying = "Realized I do much better decisions if I watch some sort of coaching video while playing."
Get a copy of "Crushing the Microstakes" - put it next to your toilet - read a couple pages a day - anything you need to do.

In a nutshell - stop screwing around and get serious - at least for a little while ;)

Now once you have focused on a game and stake it will be easier to ask for and get answers to questions and it will all flow for you a lot easier.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great answer! I realize now that it might seem that I am gambling a bit, you might be right if interpreted climbing stakes too soon. But for the past year I've been on and off grinding 2nl zoom poker only.

Played around 203k hands on 2nl the past 5 months, and really tried to work on developing my game. I do have the book by Blackra1n you mention, but to be honest I haven't read it for a while now. Probably should read it every once and a while. Over all 203k hands i have a winrate of around 6bb/100, but for the last 50k hands I've increased it to 14bb/100.

I guess what I'm trying to ask you is: do you suggest starting over and relearning everything from square 1, grind 2nl for another 100k hands?
Or do you think I would be as good off grinding same amount of hands on 5nl and work on my game to beat it the same way I beat 2nl?

Generally I am a scrap it and take it from the the top kind of guy - but ugh - 100k at 2nl? BARF

No reason you can't go to 5 if your bankroll is good.
