Best way for discipline?

Recently whenever I start a session, I tend for some reason to spew away money the first 100-700 hands (playing zoom). This together with a bad call or even a bad beat usually ends up with almost starting the session on 2-3 BI negative result.

At this point I usually get myself together and start playing my normal game, which then usually leads me back to a positive result by the end of the session.

But it's so unnecessary, remember this one time where I was just clicking buttons and all of a sudden down 6 BIs. Took me a little more than 5 hours to work myself up from there again.

So is there some way to stop this behavior and gain more discipline, any tips? Realized that if I just remove this way of playing ill increase my winrate by a lot.

Thx in advance

I have the exact same problem, usually down like 2 or 3 BI's before I get into the zone and start playing at my best. I have tried tightening up and playing fewer hands in the first 1/2 orbits but it doesn't seem to help TBH.

it sounds like when you start a session on zoom that you want to play lots of hands....your range is big because youve just sat down at a fast paced game and you are maybe trying to do too many steals against maniacs....then eventually your game calms down and you start playing proplerly once you get stats on the villians if you are using a hud

I think you may 'think' you are better than you are ... it other words being too confident and are letting your EGO blind you from reality.

Maybe make it a 'practice' to play very very few hands (only very premium hands) for maybe first 15 minutes while you 'compose yourself' and gather playing information on the competition. This will prevent 'wasting' money early on.

The best way to not spew earl in a session is to decide to believe our opponents when they bet, stop bluffing, and to avoid being overly aggressive with moderately strong hands. This has been my demon on many nights.

Smash your head against the wall after every hand? Memory loss will prevent tilt.

You either get disciplined or you lose at poker. Make your choice. I got the Nike cymbal tattooed on me because when you want to do something: JUST DO IT! don't make any excuses just handle your business.

the game is hard enough to beat, you have to have discipline and if you think it's not there then don't play or you're going to be in a world of hurt.

Just have discipline its that easy.... uuggghhh

I actually have the opposite problem I will crush it to start maybe even for hours but then I just lose it all on one hand. So I can start with discipline then I don't know I just kind of melt after a couple of hours. Maybe some one will have some good advice on this one.....
