I've always liked Deuces Cracked. If you try them, watch all of Baluga Whale's videos.

I've heard deuces cracked is worth your while, but imho there's so much great free content online that'll teach you everything you need to know, not to mention a plethora of books

Ok thanks for the replies I'll get right to that. I know there's ton of free info, I'm just ready to advance by watching and learning directly from someone who's already where I'm trying to be.

Pokerzion - it's run by pro player John Anhalt who frequents this forum as well (John A.).

Small tip for Deucescracked: don't pay. Take the 7-day trial, and download all the vids that you think apply. After the trial ends, you'll still have the vids to watch without having to pay for a subscription.

Nice tip TimovieMan! I agree with above...there are tons of free videos/materials online these days. I would go to that first before paying...you will be saving more $ for your BR and will have a higher level of understanding when you do spend the money to work with a semi/pro player.

At least join the polished poker cash game thread. It's free and we do plenty of sweating/ coaching and talk a lot of poker theory.

Is that what you did??? ;)

On a side note if you did download a lot of videos from the site, especially the older ones can they actually hurt your game.

i.e. As the game evolves so quickly, how relevant are the cash game videos from a few years ago. I still have a few from when I was a member of Pokersavvy, but never got around to watching them.

Would it be worthwhile actually watching them now or would it be detrimental to my game.

Also there is alot of free content on Youtube, and same reason as above is it ok to watch the older stuff??

8 years ago? Yeah. :p

Haven't watched any of their vids in at least 7 years, so wouldn't know.

The basic stuff will still apply, and some of the stuff that was ahead of the curve back then will still be somewhat relevant now.
Newer vids are going to be better, of course, since the game changed so much in recent years.

I think it really depends on the site though too. What topics are they covering, how far ahead of the poker curve are they? There are some people who make videos that have really been at the forefront, and some at the tail end, and those can be 4-5+ year windows. In my opinion it really depends on the video producer, how knowledgeable they are, and how clear they are in explaining concepts. If someone is explaining a poker theory topic properly, it should always apply, because it's really difficult to explain frequency in a video. And frequency is most of what has changed about the game over the years.

Example... when I started played, almost no one 3-bet pre-flop. It was extremely rare. Then everyone started 3-betting and 4-betting, and now it's scaled back again. It went from one pendulum to the other, and now it's more balanced. And if you had a good instructor who made videos even 8 years ago, they should have been talking about balance all the way back then. If they really understood the game at a high level. But I will grant you, a lot of player and video producers did not. But there are some.

And then more specialized topics are talked about like GTO play that wasn't discussed very much 6+ years ago. But still for micro and small stakes games this isn't needed. It's just a good way to understand the game better and improve your understanding of balanced ranges. So most really good poker theory videos should still be relevant and you can learn from them. Look how many people still read the theory of poker and pull important info from it... and that was written in the 70's.

Awesome reply I really appreciate the detailed information and example given. That was one of my biggest concerns. I didn't want to study anything that's not current or of quality. Thanks again
