Hi all,

This just happened to me in a freeroll on JetSet. And I didn't save a hand analysis on it. I was in the BB for $100 sb is $50. I had pocket 8s in my BB 2 seats behind the cutoff seat raise it up to $350. someone called him and I folded. Flop comes 8 7 K rainbow. He bet out and no caller end of hand.

Dang made me mad! Were my 8s good enough to call the raise? How much of a raise should you take protect your blind?

It depends on what stage of the tournament this was in (early? final table?) how much your chipstack was, etc. In my opinion, you should have called the raise becuase you already have $100 invested and you have a good hand to do so. If the player who raised had pocket Kings, you would be in big trouble. I still say call.

t1riel,

It was about mid to late in the tournie right before the second break, with about 100 people left. Yeah I was thinking I should have stayed in. My oppenent in this hand that had raised it has been known to be a major chip bully in my notes.

Since the original raiser is known to be aggressive, and the caller didn't raise himself, I might try squeezing the bully. You don't want to JUST call here. Either fold or raise big, maybe all-in depending on your own stack. The bully is now sandwiched between a reraiser and a caller with his, probably, marginal hand. There's a good chance you'll take the pot down here. If you don't then your cards are still live.
