Basic Multitabling Strategy

Hi - I have been playing one table at a time since starting online poker and am feeling about ready to take the plunge and add an addittional table. My question is what strategy does everyone adopt for this? My concern stems from the fact that whenever I am up against a multitabler they are usually pretty easy to read as they stick to fundamental ABC poker so whenever they raise I know I need a good hand to play with them...how do you get around not having a read on the players at your tables when multitabling and does a strict ABC play across multiple tables make up for the few bucks lost by not out playing someone that you know is weak from studying them?

Play whatever you are comfortable with. Some people can 24 table some can 3 table and some only 1 table. All are fine strategies. You just want the one where you will play your best poker. Obviously if you are going to supermultitable having something like Poker tracker really helps. But again do what your comfortable with and this will be most +EV for you.

A HUD from Hold'em Manager or Pokertracker really helps. You should be playing good hands/good spots anyway so continue doing that. You should stick to ABC poker of good hands but that doesn't mean you can't raise 72 on the button against fold bot blinds, provided of course you know they are folders. Again we come to the HUD. It gets very easy fairly quickly and is a great skill to learn so I recommend it.

Oh and the amount of tables you can reach depends on your style. If you play a tight 12/10 then you can probably hit 24 tables eventually. If you play a looser 20/18 then its going to be alot harder as you face more difficult post-flop decisions. Do what feels comfortable and slowly build up the number of tables, if you start to feel rushed then drop a couple tables.

Your not gunna be able to get reads without a HUD when you start piling on the tables.

The best way is to add a table at a time til you find your comfort level, or exceed it is better said. I play w/o HUD on 90% of the time, but have it ready for a quick check if I need it. That way my tables aren't cluttered with the HUD, but that's my preference.

Add a table and if you comfortable, add another. There will be a point that you will play worse, and you don't want to exceed that,obv.

I am bored with less than 4, and good up until 7 tables for cash games. Once I hit 8,unless it's all razz or stud/8, I am not being smart for my game.

just slowly increase the number of tables unless u haf a strategy that u dun even need to tink n juz act like robot n play only cards n position... if not, juz stick to 4 table max...

Be sure....

Be sure to choose the same type of game if playing multiple tables. Don't try it with HORSE either. It is easy to mix up the games playing multiple tables.
