I've been playing a while now and I'm starting a fresh slate in about 6 months.

Wanna know the starting bankrolls in your opinion to play every weekend for about a year on a £1/2 NLH grind?

The overall bankroll rule is that you need to have atleast 100 entries for a tournament to play it. For cashgames other rules apply, I would say that 250 bigs is the least you need to have. Don't know if money is a problem. Otherwise are there smaller tables in the neighbourhood?

What is this asks Playful???
Well the whole idea with regards to cash game bankroll management is to basically have 40 buy ins for the stake that you are playing at so that you can absorb any bad variance that may come your way and so that you can play comfortably without the need to play with scared money.

Assuming OP is allowed to buy in with the ideal amount of 100 bb's where he plays then the ideal amount to have in your bankroll would be (2x100x40)=£8000

Live games is a very low variance game. People are just so terrible it's not even funny.

+1 2K should allow you to take a decently long shot as long as you are playing fairly full tables most of the time.

Normal buy-in is for 100 times the big blind so 1 BI would be 200 Pounds. You should have a minimum bankroll of 20 BI's so 200 Pounds(being 1 BI) times 20 buy-ins would be 4,000 Pounds

If you say your going to spend a minimum of $200 each week at 1/2 ... you can try your luck there.

If the limit is going to be 1-2 and you are really trying to play for a whole year, I would say you need anywhere from 3000-5000. Even though you might be able to get away starting with 1500

I would set aside about 30 buy ins as your poker bankroll.

Just lost 600 euro last 2 nights playing nl200, i started with 2k and wasent able to reload, Would have liked to have 4k becouse 600euro out of 2000 is a pretty big hit. So 4k seems perfect!

Id suggest anywhere from 25-100 buyins depending how frequent you play and what stakes youre at... for the lower stakes, just have a lower buyin reserve like 25. so you can jump up and down stakes quicker (Be sure not to forget to move down if/when your bankroll drops to 25 buyins for the level below on a bad streak, even if its same day or something. common ego mistake to not move back down) and then when you reach a stake youd like to maintain then bring your reserve up to 50 or 100 buy ins instead of raising the stakes...

Jumping up and down when you reach 25 buyins for that stake allows you to go through a massive bad luck streak on a smaller bank roll while maximizing your profits and minimizing your losses during streaks of good or bad luck. While having 100 buyings allows you to also take those streaks no problem unless you're a lossing player.

I mean people suggesting 100 big blinds... just lol...

Less variance in live poker, not so sure. Yes your edge will be bigger, but depending on skill level can still be on the receiving end of lots of variance.

10 buy in downer is gonna be very common even for someone crushing the games over a large sample imo.

I would say if you are willing to top up at some point then you can start with 20 buy ins or £4k, if not then would have to agree with other poster saying £8k

i think 100xBB's x 10-20 buy-ins is fine, so if you're playing 1/2$
2000-4000$ is just fine

if you play the smallest of limits though just put aside how much money your willing to lose. And just go every week for fun :) and see what happens.

When I first started I did that and turned 200 into 3k over a couple months and i wasn't sure what i was doing.

This actually quite depends on how good you are. If you are a reg at the NL200 tables, you could start with as low as £4500 (I personally wouldn't recommend anything below 25 buy-ins for a reg). However, if you are an okay player, who hasn't played / worked on his game for a while (which seems to be the situation) - as someone already mentioned £8000 is The way to go.

Good luck! I hope to see you in the "Brags, Beats & Challenges" section showing off your massive wins. :)

Think Greg Raymor started with 1k and won the main series on the back of satalites ! Wonder how much he used up ?

He only had the 1k when it ran out it was time to quit the project, lucky he didn't

Here are the facts

It depends how much you buy in everytime. But pick a buy in that gives u a edge. You want to sit with more than 100 BBs if you can. Min 60 BBs a buy in. But overall if your gonna be a poker pro. And you want to do this for a living. I would say at min. You want 50 buy ins to your normal game. But i would suggest 100 buy ins to your game. If your doing this for a living. Becuz u will always have living expenses. And you dont want to be too stressed if you go on a bad run
