I have been a member of this site for about ten minutes. Please do not get angry if there is already a post on the site. I couldn't find one that was that similar when i did a search.

I have lost a couple hundred dollars on pokerstars over the past couple of months. I am wanting to deposit a hundred dollars again, but I would like to know exactly what you would do with it. I like to mix up my play with small sngs (heads up and single table). I also like to play 6 max tables when im playing just one table, and 9max tables when I have two tables going. My biggest problem is knowing what stakes I should play.

Please list exactly what you would do with a hundred bucks, and what stakes you would start with and when you would move up to bigger stakes.

It depends on how important that 100$ is to you.

- If you never want to deposit again, you should be playing $2 no limit cash games (where the blinds are 1c/2c). For sit & go's, you should be playing $2+$0.2 1 table sit & go's. For multi-table tournaments, nothing over a dollar buy-in.

- If you don't mind reloading more money if you go broke, you can be a bit more aggressive with that money. But playing higher than $10 no limit (5c/10c blinds) or $10 SnG's would be pretty bad bankroll management.

A good general guideline is that you need 30 buy ins for ring games, 50 for SnG's, or 100 for multi-table tournaments if you want good protection for your bankroll.

Welcome to CC btw :).

These will help you immensely. With $100 on Stars I think you can play the smallest stakes effectively, $2 and $4 sit and gos, cash games with $2-$5 buy ins.

You need about 20 buy-ins to ride out the variance of a cash game, but that is by no means guaranteed. 25 buy-ins for SNGs is a good baseline... they tend to have higher variance.

Oh, and keep in mind that you might be willing to take more shots at higher limits if your bankroll is more replenishible... that is, if you are willing to deposit $100 again should a bad run of cards wipe your roll out, you can take shots at higher limits.

Hope this helps.

Try to have at least 50-100 buy-ins for what ever level you want to play in sngs/mtts, and try to have 25-50 buy-ins for whatever level of cash you want to play. Those guidelines are typically safe enough to keep a good player from going broke, but it is poker so it's never 100% safe.

Welcome to CC.

Follow the advice of the regulars here and you will improve (and in this case build your bankroll) your game, if.......you are disciplined enough to really stick to the advice.

To me that is the key.

Just playing at the correct level isn't the answer. You need to be winning at the correct level per your bankroll.

If you aren't wining you need to improve your game. You might as well see if you can win at the small stakes to see if you are ready for the larger stakes. Learn to crawl before you run my friend.

I would definately mix it up. Variety play broadens your mind IMO. Makes it easier to think.
