My question is creating a bankroll for live casino play. Obviously you cannot play .02/.05 live since the cheapest I have seen is 1/2.

What happens when your bankroll is only a few hundred - a thousand? I'm pretty successful on online SNGs/MTTs.

I've been working a lot of OT for my job just for the fact I want to start with a bankroll of atleast 1200 for live play.

IMO a key factor is how much you intend to play live. If it's just once in a while, I wouldn't be very concerned about my live BR. I'd think of it more like taking an occasional shot at a higher online level.

Otoh, if I intend to play live on a reasonably regular basis, I'd follow my usual BRM guidelines.

As already said, if you go like I do once a month and just join a low buy in tourney then BRM should not worry you too much, but if a seriius venture then when you work it out : lowest buy in for cash should be 200, meaning a BR of around 6kish, and tourneys min buy in is 30 ish so BR should be 1.5kish as long as they are like 50 people like my casino.

I agree that it depends on your frequency. As a very casual player with some disposable income, I tend to follow a more month to month strategy. Anything extra at the end of the month rolls into the savings and I start fresh with the following months roll.

If I were more serious, I would tend to stick to a stricter 30-50 buyin with that money in a separate account.

I would take about $600 for your play at 1/2 live. If you play a tight aggressive style I believe you will do fine. People call way to light at the casinos. Of course, it is plausible that you lose that money while putting your money in good from normal variation.

It is hard when you are first trying to build a bankroll. If you follow all the rules of bankroll management it could take you a while before you ever sit at the table. I take shots at higher limits and if I lose drop down to lower stakes and try to figure out how I am being exploited.

I will start playing more at casinos now due to rooms being much cheaper in the off season.....maybe 3-4 sessions a month.

I used to play in AC for 6 months while not having a steady job. I did pretty good, making 5-600 or so a week at 1/2. I would have a rule that I'd only bring 1 max buy in (300). Now that I got a good job, I am going to bring about 1k.

catching the bankroll needed to play at tables that does not exceed 10% of your bankroll or less .. so you can control when you in game tries on tables with higher inputs .. considering your gains or losses. luck at the tables
