Hi guys,
I am new here and want your advice on bankroll management, been looking on the internet and found a lot of crap advice lol I am currently making a change from sngs to cash games. my bankroll was $150 dollars and i have been able to get it to $250 dollars quite quickly, i am struggling with the conversion to cash a little, playing a bit too much marginal hands. my bankroll management strategy is currently 2500 big blinds, but some people say that 250 is enough to play 5/10nl hold'em.
cheers
James

I would just stop and think about switching to cash at all .For me a key to br management is playing to your strengths .Cash is a completely dif game so from experience you re very likely to lose money[at least to start with and some v good tourney players never take to it] ,you seem to have made steady progress so far playing STTs so I would keep building on that and when you get it up to $500 set a side some cash for ring games and think of it as money you are prepared to lose because playing with scared money is def something you dont want to do as well as the fact you can lose it so much faster playing cash .

bankroll management is what seperstes good players from real money producing players ..and if you cant mantain a bankroll because of badbeats your playing above your means.drop down and you should be able to overcome the badbeat.

OP, 2500bb is not the way you state what your BR is, it's in Buy-Ins(BI), not BBs. So at $230, you have 23BI for 10NL, which I personally think is low to try to get into cash games. But, depending on what site(s) you play on, you have 115BI for 2NL, 57BI for 4NL or 46BI for 5NL. If you're wanting to take a shot at cash games, I would start you at the bottom regardless, because there is a lot you need to learn, no sense in wasting the money on learning at anything but the lowest level. Start playing one of those lowest limits to learn and see how the dynamics of the game goes. You can still keep playing your STTs on the side as you're learning as well(but to be honest, jumping completely into ring games would probably help you learn faster than splitting between the two). Hope that helped.
hard to maintain bankroll when you don't understand how to play
FYP Also, gonetilnov, there is an Edit button for a reason.
