I've had a couple days in my couple yrs of playing cash and seriously 9/10 a graph like that is spew. I've had 1 day where I can genuinely say It was a general downswing but still had bad play in there.

When I call it a genuine downswing, I was like getting called down with pocket 2's ... everytime I had 2pair I'd run into a set. Lower set against upper set.. KK would run into A5 to have the board go 234 on me.

When it feels like the site is making you broke on purpose ... that feeling right there is typically a downswing and the best thing to do in a downswing is to either stop playing or jump down stakes and lose less.

So if you cant jump down stakes... You have to take a break, or perhaps try cheapest sit n go's and do a diff format for a day or two and get your head on straight, use to days where ur not playing to study or readup theres plenty of informative websites/videos.

Dark, from one who's been through some similar as what you're seeing, a couple of pieces of advice.

1./ Aces is right, move down to lower stakes. To lose that much in 8400 hands, you have to be playing $10 maybe? Move down to $5 or maybe even $2 if you're at $5.

2./ Get out of 6 max, and least for the time being. That game is quite a bit more aggressive and may not be the place for you right now.

For display purposes, try setting up your graph in bbs instead of $$.

Below you will see my graph of the first 26 K hands I played while using PT4. While not as steep as yours, still looks quite similar, doesn't it? You will come out of it. The downswing could be natural, could be because you're playing over your head a little. Like Aces said, step back to lower stakes or take a break and think about it.

For comparative sake, here's the graph since the one above.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention 8400 hands is hardly a decent sample size to look at your overall play and make decisions. It's been said by many before me and much better than I, prove you can win at lowest stakes for something like 50 K or more hands first.

Yes the green line is below the red line. But the red line looks atrocious too. I think you need to take a look whether it is just a shit ton of coolers/run bad causing it or there are some serious leaks in your play. The lines should theoretically come close to merging as your sample becomes bigger. Just keep playing and your run good will eventually come.

That's like 2 sessions worth of hands. :) I'm on a 1k downswing in my last 3 sessions. It happens. Welcome to poker.

lol true John I've had a vicious 1.5k downswing within a session to recover either side :)

Also something I didn't really understand when It got first told to me but it gets clearer as you try to focus on it.

Make sure your not worried about success... Rather focus on things like.

-Leaks in your game (where your losing money?)

-Making the correct decisions.

-Try to improve the environment your playing in (Your hud fix it) Those beeping sounds get rid of it.

-Playing tired? Playing with destractions? ... I heard your girlfriend or wife in the background? That's a no no :) in my situation you don't want anything to distract you... I've noticed when I had a few set rules for a session it really improved my game. Heres my checklist to even start playing.

*Mood alright (after a bad day at work I always found a bad session was to follow)

*Wife out or asleep kids as well fit in that

*Tired?

*Log in and check out the flop % if the tables were all under 20% I'd just go down lower stakes or even try a different type of game. Looking at your session vids you don't need to worry about that because your playing against utter fish haha ... hell your getting called with 65off and they are paying middle pair with no real draws lol :)

If your not right to play or things going bad..

*Study more on the game

*Analyze your game.

*Post replay threads on here.

It's certainly possible to play well and still lose money. That's just how poker sometimes works. However, it's all too easy to attribute losing to downswings / variance without verifying how well we've actually played.

Also, playing well is relative. You can play your A game, but if you're against players who are better, you should expect to lose.

Frankly, while it's possible for a +EV player to run bad long enough to drop 25 BI at nl4, it's far from certain that this is what happened. For instance, maybe you weren't quite playing your A game during your downswing, and that this plus some degree of running bad led to losing your BR.

There's also the possibility no one likes to admit, that you aren't (yet) a +EV player at this level.

I think from the comments i made on your vids that you weren't playing as well as you thought you were. You had bet sizing and judgement decisions that meant you were continualy spewing chips.

As for then increasing your number of tables to 4 without being a winning player just ensures that you lose money faster.100$ is plenty for winning players . I've done multiple challenges running 10$ or less up without going bust.

8k hands? half your roll? I have no doubt you've ran bad but something isn't right here

you either need to

1. get better/run better
2. increase your roll
3. move down in stakes

**or all 3**
