Been finding some real nice action on these tables at bol. I get very discouraged though when losing a couple buy ins. How much should I have in my roll to be able to handle the swings of this game?

Some say 30 buy ins, some 50 buy ins and others more.
It depends on your intends. If you want to play as a recreational player and you don't mind to much if you lose your bankroll, 30 would be enough. If you want to play with only one deposit and never deposit anymore, or want to go pro and do it for a living, so your total income depends on it, it should be at lease a 100 buy ins.

20 if you have a huge edge and don't mind busting and redepositing.
50 is more or less standard.
100+ if your income depends on it.

That's mostly for NL, though. PLO should probably have more variance than NL (but also weaker competition), so maybe bump that to 30/75/150???

50 is standard? I know 20-30 is okay for micros. If 50 is standard, I've got a long grind at 100NL before moving to 200NL lol... Only at 35BI.

Personal preference. If you have absolutely no issues with dropping down in stakes, then 30 should be fine.

I use 50 myself, but for the lower stakes. Which means that everything I have over 50 BIs for certain stakes, can be taken for shots at the next stakes.

Okay, I see what you mean now. I thought you meant you'd need 50BI for the next level before taking shots/moving up. Interesting. I might shot 200NL at a 6k bankroll (~5BI).

That's exactly what I mean.

You just need the discipline to drop down immediately if you go under 5K again. If you lack that discipline, then you really should grind to 50BIs for the next level before taking shots.
The irony of the situation being that if you lack the discipline for the former, you'll lack the discipline for the latter.

You could also use a changing system where it's 50 BIs for the lower stakes, but increases as you move up. Any system is fine. It just depends on your own preferences.

As long as you do in fact use a bankroll management system, all is good. BRM is very important but BRM can be handled in many different ways...
