So when I'm playing in MTTs or SNGs and I have a huge chip advantage over a majority of the table. I'm always tempted and usually call an all in with any two cards when their total chip count is 5% or less of what I have. And 80% of the time I usually knock them out of the tourney. I know it's somewhat insulting to be called by someone holding 9 5 off or 4 7 off against AK, AQ, KQ, KJ, QJ, and then to get eliminated because I hit two pair or I hit one pair and they have high card.

On a side note if someone calls before it gets to me I don't call -
If I'm in BB and suspect a steal I'll call

So my overall question is:
Is this a bad play for poker?
And more importantly is it a bad play for Poker Etiquitte?

its actually proper play to call someones all in (in a tournament of course) if their stack is less than 10% of your stack
not a bad play ad its not bad etiquitte

Even if you're holding cards like 5 6 off? Why?

Is this only when you're on the button, and it's not possible for anyone else to raise your call of someone else's (one with <10% of your stack) all-in? And/or only when you suspect he's bluffing?

I did this a few times in a freeroll two nights ago (calling people's all ins when they had a tiny, tiny stack), and I lost lots of chips trying to make my chipstack larger than it already was, and it brought me down. I'm trying to understand this :) I called more loosely with inferior suited hands.

Ah I see. Possible self-esteem boosts :) I like those, so I guess the explanation is that risking 10% of your stack to try to feel more confident in your game can help in larger hands?
