right, last week I had a 10 buyin downswing which made me lose a bit of confidence in myself and go on astro tilt. :icon_puke

decided to stop before I blew my roll, and gave myself a week long break..

now I'm back on stars, wondering whether to stick to FR or switch to 6 max.

opinions?

What have you done during the break to address your tilt trigger? If you are an 'action player' then 6-max is your game but variance is higher so if you haven't addressed the tilt issue it's likely you'll go bust again. FR is more methodical but again if you don't have a tilt plan you can just as easily go bust.

Oh right, sorry if it came across like I have tilt problems. I'm normally quite calm and not too bothered, when I do tilt it's closer to a minor annoyance and then back to playing. Suckouts etc don't get to me, this was just a really bad day for loads of preflop coolers so I thought it best to step away before I start playing sub optimally.

I'm ok with the variance of 6 max, I'm just starting to find FR a bit tiresome, and on PS there aren't enough good tables for me to play enough to keep me for getting bored.. so I'm considering switching.

can't multitable too well on there though, and all the fish buy in for like 10bb so it's kinda shit to play at..

and no pt3 on there, so I can't track my hands!

What? really what limits are you playing there?? I would say you guys have tons more good tables then the Merge site us U.S players are on. Anyway good luck at the tables.

You really aren't giving us any information to give you an answer. It is your personal opinion if you want to play 6max or FR. What do you have the most success at? GL and try not to "make back losses", as this will ultimately lead to tilting.

stepped down to 10nl, and on PS all the loose tables get reg infested with a 9+ long waiting list in like 2 mins, so you have to check every half minute to try and get a decent table first.

was gonna post this in another thread but I'll just stick it in here..

what are your lots opinion on mass multitabling? was considering it but it means that a lot of the tables I'll be playing at will be full of ubernit/regs that don't play anything but the nuts..

maybe I phrased my question a bit badly, how about..

which is most profitable (most fish) 6 max or FR and which would help improve my game.. good enough?

I wasn't trying to offend you, just trying to get a little bit more information so I could give you a better educated opinion.

I would recommend 6 max based solely on the assumption that most "fish" are going to jump into these games. I could be completely wrong as I don't have/use any poker tracking device (i.e. Pokertracker.) Plus I am biased since I mostly play PLO and 6 max is the game. Are you exclusively playing NLHE? What are your goals (short and long term?) Have you taken any actions to prevent yourself from tilting?

I know of a lot of great players who struggled with tilting and it stems from changing your mindset. You say that you don't have a problem with tilting, that it was just a day where everything went wrong, "Preflop coolers" as you say. Even if it takes a lot of negative action to trigger, it still is tilting, and you need to correct that if you want to be successful.

wasn't offended. Umm, I'm considering playing PLO but I need to majorly improve because I'm a fish at it.. NLHE is my main game.

Short Term - how short is short term? probably just add to my bankroll.. stop playing MTT's.

Long Term - improve as a player (well duhh), get my BR big enough to switch to live play.. and apparently sort out my tilting problem.

Well yeah, I understand its still tilting, I'm just saying that its not as bad as some other players in this regard. Actions such as?

In general 6max games take a bit more skill, but can also be more profitable and provide more action. You have to pay more attention to your villains and use different strategies than in FR. Since you are using PokerTracker you should be able to do well, as long as you know what you are doing.

Make sure that you take the time to study and go over you HH's. Learning from your mistakes and adjusting will make you a more profitable player in whatever game you choose.
