Hi, I am a 25NL Cash Reg who is just getting back into the game after having a breather for a couple of months and I am looking for 2nl-5nl cash game players to coach in a study group.

It is free and I'm hoping to reinforce fundamentals in my game by teaching others these fundamentals.

Anybody interested, PM me or post below! Thanks

Sounds cool! I am a break even 10nl Player and would be intrested :) how will you coach? In a study groupy way, where we sit down and go though some hand? or like the standard "record a session" thing?

Okay, My approach to the game:

Table Select Intensely= if the world's 200th best poker player went heads up against the world's best player... he would still lose despite being better than millions of others! In truth winning poker is all about a skill gap/edge between you and your opponent so forget about playing against the regulars. Find the worst players possible and milk them!

Value Bet (what you think is) Too Thin against the Whales= You'll surprise yourself at what they call with. Try it with 40% pot bets at first until you gain confidence in knowing they will call with crap then increase it to 70-80% pot bets on 3 streets with MP or better!

Play Small Pots against Regs unless you have the 2nd nuts or bigger= I like to pot control intensely against the regs unless I know I am near enough guaranteed to win. They aren't my main focus so I just don't want to lose anything against them.

Play Using a Style that Others can EASILY Exploit, then make it even more face-up= I don't care if your ego doesn't want to have to fold the 10% of the time the villain is just taking advantage of you being too tight. If you play in a way that others players COULD easily exploit (Example:50% cbets on flop with air, 80-120% for value...etc) then you will make more money. People really do have no idea how to properly exploit you and the WHALES that you are trying to milk definitely don't so forget GTO or unexploitable plays... just do what makes the most money!

would be very good to form a study group to try to improve. There are many complicated hands and sometimes hard to find the right way to play oneself.

Awesome! Thanks for that, I just wanted to get a feel for your mentality towards the game! I noticed in one of you other posts you said you studied Psychology? I bet that comes in handy! Especially from a coaching perspective.

Anyway- I'd be more than happy to be included in the group! The only thing is... I play on Bovada :/ I hope this won't be a problem! I wish I could play on pokerstars, but living in the U.S. cuts your options down quite a bit as far as online play.

Here's a little method I use for table selection:

1.) Ensure HUD is running, Open up 8 regular tables using the quick seat feature.

2.) Play AA-22, AK, AQ and KQs only for 20 hands watching the tables marking players as either:
* Whales (agro-fish with vpip above 40 and a similar PFR),
* Calling Stations (vpip 30>; prf <20),
* Reg-Fish (Reg like stats but takes good preflop hands too far postflop- calls 3streets with top pair hand when draws complete)
* Nit-Fish (Too tight and timid)

3.) Only keep the tables open with Whales on them

4.) Rinse and Repeat until you have 2-4 tables with whales on them and milk them!

5.) If the whales leave, start the process again!

Smart concept! Targeting the weak players is definetly something I tell myself I need to do, but definetly have to start applying more often. Most of the time I just seem to get in the pot with whoever. Not having a HUD on Bovada also makes things a bit more challenging, but I'm planning on getting Poker Tracker 4 and the Bovada hand converter and HUD software from Ace Poker Solutions.

It is good method to sharpen your ideas. I also want to learn some more and to join you but i have a lot of works to do other than this.
Teaching someone is the best way to master something.
Good luck.:)
