I agree, but particularly since I don't plan on quitting poker, having a nice positive income stream will be a plus. Especially since for the one I like the most so far I know a guy who works there who said the office environment is chill and the work would be interesting/intellectually stimulating. Plus the pay's good. I'll take the life variance in return for not going on 5 figure downswings regularly and a not much worse long-term hourly.
Bold part is SO key, and under-appreciated by people who have it.
I've just deposited on Bovada again, and have managed to run $175 down to $67 in just 3 days. Go me! I'm willing to reload at least once if I bust it, and will play no higher than 25nl for at least a while.
August Goals:
[ ] 15,000 hands
[ ] Average 1.5+ poker videos/week, no less than 1 each week
[ ] Keep my thread updated at least weekly
[ ] Profit I guess
[ ] Work on Bovada Zone-specific lines/strategies
I'm actually most serious about the last goal. The last time I played zone I crushed it over a not-very-large sample. But I think I was subconsciously hitting on some things that I didn't exploit as fully as I could. So this goal has to do with actually picking apart existing lines I use and optimizing them for anonymous hands. I've got some pretty good stuff so far, but implementing it might be tricky just in terms of getting myself mentally away from my own 2 cards and becoming 100% villain range-focused (for
bluff lines).
Currently working on a simple raise-flop HU IP line that will hopefully inform later exploration into more complex lines like floating flop to bluff-raise turn.
